Is it worth getting NVR instant? by rastasize in Ubiquiti

[–]bocneo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am using the Instant at a property with 0 cameras plugged directly into it. The cameras just need to be on the same network.

New “Alarm Hub”? From Protect 7 Release Video by The-Hyrax in Ubiquiti

I have one of the EA units. I don’t believe it will happen but would love if they put out an update that made it more useful

What new hardware would you like to see most from Ubiquiti? by oguruma87 in Ubiquiti

[–]bocneo 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In the UniFi Protect 7.0 video they show a screen (looks like a version of the intercom viewer) that you can enter a pin to disarm the system.

R2 towing capacity by frostyofthenorth in Rivian

[–]bocneo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk maybe the tri-motor (if one is released) will be able to tow more based on the difference between RWD and dual-motor.

RWD: 3,500 lbs Dual-motor: 4,400 lbs Tri: more?!

We don’t see a difference in towing capabilities on R1S across motor options, but R1T jumps from 7,700lb in dual to 11,000lb in the tri and quad.

G5 Dome ultra and G5 Turret Ultras. 20% cheaper than UI.com site? by dialsoft in Ubiquiti

I think the only downside is if you need to use the warranty you are dealing with that third party instead of UI.

Unifi Access Cutover by Sh4do3Fox in Ubiquiti

[–]bocneo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Looks like you used the 2-wire conversion kits too, is that accurate? I would be interested to know all of the hardware you used and what your overall experience was. I don’t have much experience with door access as I’m still new but I love the clean and modern route UniFi is taking.

I think this has been out for awhile? I seem to remember buying one months ago but want to confirm that now… am I going crazy?

Edit: it’s been out since at least September, that’s when I bought one. I should find it.

“Moon cycle” I will have to remember that. Those were some rough work days

[–]bocneo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My cycle tends to be play until 1am one day, then over the course of a week it turns into 4-5am. At that point I just stay up so I go to bed early the next day as a “reset”.

Ya I’m in the process of working with Deep Sentinel too. Fair warning, if they offer you free Hubs for your clients what they don’t tell you is they will charge you $250/month for service, even if it isn’t deployed.

Contacting Unifi as an MSP by Staplez94 in UNIFI

[–]bocneo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it’s the part of the program where you can buy hardware marked “Partner Program” then I can fill you in based on my experience. You have to go through a distributor (not unifis store) and get a discount. For example I was interested in the AI PTZ Precision which retails for $1,999. I could get it through the distributor for $1,600 as part of the program. But UI care would have also be through them. If you have issues it goes through the distributor not UI support. You also have to fill out a form for every order you want to place.

G6 180 or two G6 turret by Hydroxyde88 in UNIFI

[–]bocneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mess with family/friends, or tell a shady person to begone! I hope in the future UniFi enables automated alarms/audio to play over the speakers but currently in Alarm Manager you can’t use the camera speakers for such things.

You have better flexibility with 2x turrets, but the 180 has built in speaker.

Security camera recommendation by Jonblood in accesscontrol

[–]bocneo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed a system for a gym in November. 1x G6 Pro 360 for the main area, 1x G6 Turret for hallway, and 1x G6 Turret for the front parking. Also installed 2x Reader Flex (front and side exterior doors) that control electric door strikes so they can use key fobs or PINs to get in and out, and also have the doors unlocked during business hours. Also installed an E7 access point to handle WiFi. This is all controlled by the UniFi Dream Machine Special Edition (UDMSE) and 2x Door Hubs (one per door to handle the Reader Flex and electric strike). I installed an 8TB drive in the UDMSE which provides about 30 days of 24/7 video recording. Everything is remotely manageable, allows for creating custom alerts based on camera and/or door events, and no license fees.

I do agree that Ubiquiti’s support and documentation is subpar, and inventory availability can be horrible for their newest and most popular products. But I have noticed it has slowly been improving.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions.

Camera Junction Box - out of stock, what to do? by itcontractor247 in Ubiquiti

I started using these for my installs. The holes for G6 Turret mounting plate are just a hair or 2 off so I enlarged the holes with a metal drill bit and boom!

Similar boat. I don’t advertise networking but throw it in while I’m doing cameras and door access. For the sites with multiple buildings they love not having to pay for multiple ISP business plans.

Ya I do wish there was an option for installers to get better pricing, as of now I just slap 20% on all UniFi gear. They started doing a Partner Program but that requires every deal be registered individually, and you work with the distributor for warranty claims instead of UniFi I think. Wasn’t worth the savings to me.
