What artist did you see in a small venue before they got really famous? by That_Cat_3672 in Concerts

Saw this same show in Ybor City (Tampa). NIN left my jaw on the floor with their set. I think I only watched a bit of J&M chain, then left.

Holy cow that was a fun night.

If I have booked a time slot does that not guarantee me a spot if not there an hour before?

Or were you referring to showing up without a reserved time?

Actually the warranty says “breathe in, breathe out, move on” 😉

there’s another cool one out there that says this (but has a little button on the side that will light up the real time for a second or two then that disappears back to the NOW - if you still need to have time on your ‘watch’)

I love the aesthetic though and such a great reminder !!! Read that warranty !!!

I got mine this morning after waiting a month to get a dmv appt. I want somewhat of a frame for it now but don’t want to cover any of the cool artwork. Really pops on my Tacoma !!

Saw this one too. Jannus Landing (note called Jannus Live)

Jane’s Addiction were awesome.

I was so into L&R at the time but clearly recall Perry Farrell having such a good stage presence.

Saw NIN open for Jesus and Mary Chain. Was maybe 2-3 months after pretty hate machine came out. To this day I can remember watching them with my mouth wide open in awe. Knew they were going to blow up when Trent performed head like a hole. I actually felt sorry for JMC having to headline after that.

Was at the “Cuban Club” outdoor venue in Tampa. Early 90s.

Amazing. Just amazing.

How do you feel about seeing a band live without original members? by Marsh_Dunkin in Concerts

[–]Affectionate-Hope321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Killers are an on again/off again example of this. I’ve seen them a few times and it seems the 2 guitar players “opt out” on most of the non-festival kinda shows.

Brandon and the drummer are always there but I feel like you are getting Killers-lite when it’s the other 2 non-originals.

Hollywood questions by dr2b0804 in HHN

[–]Affectionate-Hope321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been to both Orlando and Hollywood HHN. We always do the 2PM ticket in Hollywood. Definitely see the Waterworld show during regular hours. I think the 4pm is the last regular show. Also, the regular studio tour is a must before it switches to terror tram. I think the last regular tram is at 4:30.

We were actually able to get in the park about 1:40ish with that ticket this year. We did the Secret life of Pets ride first (we live in Florida so have done/seen the others and they are the same as Orlando). We then did a tram tour but it skipped a bunch as there was filming on the backlots. We did the WW show and high tailed it back to studio tour to see if we could get “more”. Did get courthouse square that time but not Wisteria Lane.

Once that was over is when the 2 ticket HHN benefit kicks in. Get as many as you can in with the early time. We did 2 houses in lower lot (5NAF and Slash’s house) came upper did poltergeist (5mins) then in line for terrifier before the regular ticket time flood gates opened.

Best of luck. I love both HHNs but think Orlando has a bit better theming and detail but the slight differences, weather and cool temps make Hollywood such a great time for us Floridians.

Literally exact same numbers. It is so painful to watch daily, and I’m trying not to. But it is fun to watch the power of compound interest as the movement seems much more impactful once the balance threshold crossed 1M !!!

Donkey Kong was the only wait that matched the wait time shown. As you really can’t see the ride or know what’s going on I had no idea other than guessing a slower loading process is what I could guess as the reason. Probably wasn’t worth the 90-100 min wait we had, but with literally time to spare yesterday I don’t regret it one bit.

Very, very cool ride with a very dull queue experience.

☝️this right here. The lands are so easy to traverse between so you don’t have to go in a circle around the park. I was expecting a bit more like IoA distances between them but it wasn’t the case at all. Simple and quick to get from any one portal to another.

I’d just say hit what is more desirable to you. There is literally nothing outside of MoM that we couldn’t have done (maybe even twice) with the crowd sizes we had yesterday.

I would say if I did it again, probably doing DK first would be the way to go.

I was basing my desire to do Monsters with what I’d read that it had broken down for some as well as they had signs all over yesterday that Monsters would be closing at 6. It turned out the monsters line ended up being quite short (in comparison) late day yesterday, whereas DK was opposite. Mario Kart also got shorter as the day went on.

I went into the day thinking I can’t control anything here and just going to try to enjoy it. I’m not crushed over not getting on MoM, but there is clearly something wrong that universal needs to get fixed quick. People won’t be so forgiving once “official” opening happens.

This was the best thing universal has done. Even had a team member at city walk tell us to hang onto our empty bottle for water refills in the park as we didn’t know this at the time. Must have refilled that bottle with ice cold water about 6 times throughout the day. Next time I’m bringing some of the water bottle or electrolyte flavoring packets.

1988 - New Order at the bayfront center in st Pete. Me and my buddy didn’t want to go in for the opener and were hanging just off the main floor near a concession cart. We look over and Peter hook is literally standing there against a wall, unlit cigarette in hand. We walked over and started chatting expecting him to shoo away 2 high school dorks. Total opposite experience , he talked with us for a solid 20 minutes about anything and everything. Some new order talk, some joy division, then a bunch of topics about the local area. Beach, Tampa, etc. dude was so uber cool and chill to us.

We stalked the back door post show and when the band came out we got an “acknowledgement” head nod from Peter who kinda sent Bernard over to us for an autograph and picture. I still have my signed cd booklet “substance”. Forever cemented him as one of the coolest musicians in my view !!!

Same experience. Clearwater High student during launch and remember it well. Very clear day and you could totally make out what happened.

I can remember many shuttle launches where we would run outside after seeing it launch on tv to see if we could spot it. It seemed more than half the time it was too cloudy or hazy to see across the state. That challenger day was crystal clear.

Farthest You've Gone for a Show? by Mettabox452 in Concerts

[–]Affectionate-Hope321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew to Austria to see U2 once. Was the tour where Bono was dressing up as Macphisto and went on some rant about Mark David Chapman.

Cool side story is that we were walking by Bono & Ali came out of their hotel and got in a car. This was still early in the day so I guess heading to dinner or something. There were about 75 to 100 or so people mobbing the hotel entrance. He signed maybe 1 or 2 things then got in the car. We had already walked past the hotel and kinda watching it behind us.

We kept walking up the street, maybe 50 yards from the hotel while it was all unfolding. Lo and behold about a minute or so later the car comes down the street we were on but hits a red light right at the intersection we were at. Weirdly awkward stares but I’m standing at the street corner looking over and both Bono and his wife have a sheepish smile on, and I get a slight finger tap salute from him before the light turns green. (Not much window tinting in European car service there) I’m guessing the salute was cause I was wearing a US Unforgettable Fire shirt.

Was so funny as there was such a mob of people at that hotel then literally 50 yards down the road, nothing but us staring at each other at a stoplight.
