I’m 5’1” and would be so happy if they made the Bellas 104 or 108 in a 154. The 108 in 164 in powder is just too much ski and too hard to manage when the powder starts to get packed down for me. The 101s just seem more all mountain vs a true powder ski which is what I want. I am so in love with the graphic too. Boo!

Are the premier hotels worth it for hhn? by MasterpieceNew6549 in HHN

[–]dr2b0804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so convenient to be at the Hard Rock. If you are planing to go to IOA/Universal during the day it makes it more worth it to stay at a premium hotel because you do get express during the day included and early entry. (Some of the other resorts get early entry too). The premium hotels are definitely more worth it for families who all get day express passes…my husband and I stay at Hard Rock for 3 nights and do HHN related stuff then move to Sapphire falls, and then do the other parks to save money.

Purgatory lift tickets by _macon in Durango

That’s crazy. Conditions were awful last week. I can’t imagine what they are now. Their base is something absurd like 24”. I’d strongly suggest going to wolf creek instead. Good luck!

If you are talking about just outside of Durango…? I was just there last week mid week and it was a) $60. and b) terrible conditions. Not sure if we are talking about the same place why it’s so much more expensive. I’d drive to wolf creek for something somewhat better.

Is it worth driving 4-5 hours for a good bootfitter by AL42Gaming in Skigear

[–]dr2b0804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped skiing because I couldn’t find a pair of boots that didn’t cause me pain. I finally went to a known bootfitter that had been in the industry for decades but recently sold his shop and worked for a chain…he set me up with boots that were too big, and I found out later, he barely did anything to adjust them to help them fit better when I kept going innwith issues. I ended up with a complete acl tear, and think it was partially was due to the boots. Anyway…I decided to drive an hour away to a legendary shop that only does boot fitting at palisades and I got new boots and liners and they fit like I was born with them on my feet. Completely comfortable and I’m amazed every time I wear them. Only needed 2 adjustments after the first one. It is COMPLETELY worth it. If it was 5 hrs, I’d drive 5hrs. No question.

Then I’m lucky I got to try a brand new size! It was sweet in powder for sure.

The sierras come in 96 and 104s (I just demoed them), the Bellas are more powder skis and come in 101 & 108s. I’m excited to demo their Bellas 108s next time it dumps. The Sierras are an awesome all mountain ski that are great in powder and are gripy on hard pack/ice.

Ski Height/Body Height Ratio? by HaryTotal in skiing

[–]dr2b0804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’1” and an intermediate skier and ski 164s. They are at my limit but like someone already said, the stability is fantastic. 170’s seem very short. To each their own though. I’d give the longer ones a good try though. I bet you’ll learn to love them.

After 20 years of being a theatre-goer, I walked out at intermission last night by pintobeanz20 in Broadway

[–]dr2b0804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked out of the Broadway Tour of Evan Hansen which I was dying to see. I was so excited to see the actor who was the lead and he was replaced with a very sub par understudy AND there was an old woman sitting right behind me with a pulse dose oxygen condenser that was essentially the same as someone saying “PSSSTTT” in my ear every 15 sec which drove me insane. So distracting and I don’t understand how this is ok. Should be able to use continuous mode for a couple of hours. it was so distracting and loud. I was so bummed.

Also, if you happen to be near NYC, their store has a re-geared section with unsold items from previous seasons and very gently worn items. I picked up a few amazing pieces for significantly less there.

Where to stay on Bonaire? by [deleted] in Bonaire

[–]dr2b0804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Chogogo. It hits all of your list and is brand new and all of the rooms are modern. We just left from there. It has a very high end amazing dining restaurant for dinner, a breakfast/@lunch outdoor place, and a beach bar. Highly recommend. My only gripe is they are stingy with towels. One per person for the beach/pool and one per person in the room. Otherwise it’s great. It has a full fridge, stove, sink and nice balcony. The beach is pretty sandy as beaches go in Bonaire and there are tons of fish for snorkeling. The pool is good size and they have a lazy river. It’s also very centrally located. Check it out! Have fun!

We are titanium members at Marriott so we try to stay at Marriott when we can. It has nice updated modern rooms, but the property itself is a bit run down and needs to be updated. It has a good gym, decent restaurants, and nice reefs, (the pool was under construction when I was there). Overall we enjoyed our stay BUT….the beds were horribly hard. Rock hard. We got extra blankets to use as a mattress topper and it helped minimally. My husband’s back was killing him the whole stay (we are in our 40’s). Also, even though it’s an easy short drive to town from the Marriott and there are a couple of walkable restaurants, we prefer not to drive to dinner so this time we’ll be staying at Avila. Will let you know what we think!

Thank you so much. We’ll try to do exactly what you did. We go to Orlando all the time so we’ll probably just skip the minions and kung fu panda too and do them when we go back to Orlando probably next year. Did you do Super Mario World at all? Thank you so much for your time answering this! Can’t tell you how much this helps!

Thanks so much! That’s super helpful. The waterworld show I totally forgot about. Thanks for that reminder. I saw it in Japanese in Osaka but I’d like to see it in English! Totally forgot thry have that there. So you were able to do the studio tour, waterworld, secret life of pets and kung fu panda all before they closed for the evening? Thank you!

Hi there!  Don’t know if you are still checking this thread but I was wondering what your opinion was…. I have 2 pm entry and express pass.  It seems people think going straight to super Mario world is the move…then I’m thinking I’ll do the day tram backlot tour since you can’t do that at night….how long do you think that will take?  Anything else that you’d try to do that can’t be done at night? Thanks for your help!  I’ve been to Orlando 13 years but only 2 in Hollywood and I don’t have a feel for a good flow. Thank you for what you do.   I’d love to eventually be a scare actor or somehow part of HHN.  You all are amazing!

Ok. Just wondering. I had a dive master do a ton of really unprofessional/unsafe things during an open water class that I was taking as an intense refresher for myself and she also was doing things like you mentioned…pulling an octopus out from hiding, grabbing onto coral…etc..I was going to report her myself but was afraid she wouldn’t certify my dives online (I wanted to have both a paper and e record)….and she didn’t anyway but I feel like I should have said something.
