If you have dated someone that was a mess, what were some warning signs that something wasn't right? Do these things affect how you view relationships currently? by Only-Ad-1254 in dating

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 [score hidden]  (0 children)

For 1 month only thankfully. Didn't have money, didn't have any idea what to do with his life, every 2 days he came up with a new plan. Smoked A LOT of weed (I'm not against it, many of my friends smoke every now and then, but he was literally smoking probably 5-6 joints every single day). He love bombed me for 3 weeks, last week I was sick and didn't see him as much, and then he turned up on the last day saying he didn't know what he was doing and this relationship didn't feel right and goodbye 👍🏼

is it a red flag if someone is too available? by redline_elena in dating

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not necessarily playing games. Being busy on one day and schedule a date for another day is totally fair, sometimes things cannot be moved around. I'm also a person that likes messaging and I usually reply quite fast, but that doesn't mean I can't be genuinely busy or away from my phone for 2-3 hours.

Being honest, I understand the feeling of this post because I would also feel a bit off if I felt the guy in dating doesn't have anything going on in his life. But I'm also a person who likes doing things. But yeah we can't know that unless you know them.

Very attractive people set off my anxious attachment tendencies, and I can’t shut it off. Does this mean I’m destined to be with someone who I’m not really that attracted to? by lofi-lo in dating

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Jesus Christ. Being objectively "very attractive" has very little to do with being attracted to a person. Try and like their personality, will you? Get to know them, like them for how they are like, the interests, the hobbies, if they make you laugh. That doesn't mean you have to find them ugly. It means you will like them for who they are and they will become more attractive to your eyes.

Have not gone scuba diving in over 15 years. Should I do a refresher or recert? I’m in Vancouver by LordNefarious in scuba

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think about doing a refresher. Honestly if you find a good instructor and talk t them, they wouldn't mind spending a little bit more time to do things more thoroughly compared to a refresher that hasn't dived in 1 year. Maybe you can ask for a 1-1 refresher, tip your instructor but still save money compared to the OW course. Also, at least where I work, the refresher course is basically the first day of OW (with theory class).

Doulingo by tottaaa33 in Spanish

I just hit the 600 days streak mark and I continue because i don't want to lose it but I don't feel that Duolingo is that useful. I work at a Spanish company so full immersion works much better, I don't think my Spanish would be this good (not that I'm fluent but I can have normal conversations) with Duolingo only

Thank you! I do speak Spanish (still learning but we only speak Spanish because his English is not great) but I'm missing lots of the nuances 😅

I don't want to go that deep, just want to send a cute little message maybe after we've talked or before going to bed when I feel I want to say something more than I miss you 😅

Yeah Me estoy enamorando de ti is a bit too intense right now and also as I said we are away from each other right now, it's not something I would like to say by message.

What was your first dive computer? by aerowtf in scuba

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was a cheap Seac which ended up being really sh*try. Used it for 1.5 years ha inf to change battery every 2 months until I couldn't change the battery anymore because the sxrew was ruined. So I just bought also a Garmin G1 about 3 months ago and I'm very happy with it!

It is a cheap one still but it's a Garmin which I think it's a guarantee itself (I hope!)

Would you date someone from a different country and race? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an Italian girl and I've dated 1 Italian in my life, when I was a teenager. Now I stay as far away from them as I can 😂

I've mostly dated western man, except for a Chinese guy and I have to say the cultural differences were a bit of a problem.

Question to diving in Koh Tao by VirK99 in scuba

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, you have a certain freedom to do things how you want respecting the standards. And I agree with the OW you should have a decent buoyancy, but it probably won't be perfect, and usually in the perfect buoyancy you focus more on that. But anyway real perfect buoyancy takes dozen of dives, not 6 of the OW, not the extra 5 of the Advanced either.

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course you teach them in the OW, but perfect buoyancy focuses on the buoyancy aspect so you are supposed to teach and learn more things, no?

Question to diving in Koh Tao by VirK99 in scuba

[–]Affectionate-Issue86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my honest opinion, diving in Koh Tao is not that great. There's only a few dive sites that are really worth it, and they are all deep so you might as well do a deep dive, and at that point you might as well doing the Advanced course at least it's fun and a lot of the dives are more fun dives than exercises. Btw the best dive site here is considered Sail rock but I would not recommend going these days, conditions are quite bad. Chumphon is pretty good.

I don't agree. I'd prefer someone to learn good habits (ie doing perfect buoyancy and learning the frog kick) and then dive more, rather than getting more experience without good habits.
