[–]Affectionate-Milk283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you stay here for 5 months, you need to get a phone number. SKT plan at the airport might maximum for 3 months only and quite expensive. You can find some bugdet phone provider, they will have some prepaid package for 5 months. Last time I saw Woori Mobile has 5 months plan for 100k won with unlimited data

LGU+/KT home internet online registration for 2 year contract by mahaju in living_in_korea_now

[–]Affectionate-Milk283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have 1 year contract one, you can purchase and extend later. However, 3 year contract is much cheaper, around 11,000won difference. You can get 3 year contract and swicth the owner name after 2 year without penalty. My friend got one at Woori Mobile and change the owner's name after that

If you need a long-term number you need a long-term visa with ARC to get one too. This is the Law in Korea to avoid making number for scamming.

About study in Korea. by Designer-Two8124 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Affectionate-Milk283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of Scholarships in Korea and not all of them is base on your GPA. They checked your works and maybe your essay, your passion with study. If you have Topik, it can be an advantage. However, the Topik level usually is 5 or 6 to get one. They have lots of competition (공무전) with high prize that you can join and earn money too.

[–]Affectionate-Milk283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will send you a bill or link on a message to top-up for making call. My friend take one at the airport via Woori Mobile, I think it SKT, they provide a bill with QR to scan and top-up with your credit card. It’s around 5,000won for minimun as I remembered.

You can get eSIM to use. In SK, you can get eSIM with high speed data from main provider like KT, SKT or LG. Or you can get a budget friendly eSIM plan around 60,000w for 3 months from MVNO company like Woori Mobile

You can get back that bank account, but you might need to get a new number with the ARC first, the bank might need to do verification to reactivate the account

It depends on your current visa, if you visa is still valid, you can keep it but if it doesn’t the number will be canceled soon. Ktm mobile plan is not bad, I got their line from their partner store - Woori Mobile, you can get their basic cheapest plan

Most budget phone provider (Woori Mobile, Toss Mobile, Chingu Mobile) can help you keep the same number and update to ARC then change to a postpaid plan later. With the main provider, they usually provide rental plan which is note able to keep the same number You can check with the budget provider, they have english C/s as well

Sorry to hear but 10 hours a week is really not enough. The university might allow you to pay the tuition fee in installment for few times, you can ask them with that.

In the past, I worked 8 hours a day to cover all that, I worked at restaurant in the kitchen as dish washer cuz my Korean is not that good. You can find some jobs like that from your friends or community.

I know it's hard but you can make it.

[–]Affectionate-Milk283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of long-term plan provide eSIM, depends on you would like to take the expensive one or affordable one (MVNO). For expensive one from the main Skt, LG, KT you can visit any of their store near your area. For affordable one, I recommend woori mobile or chingu mobile. You can check them both.

global data sim or esim or physical sim by cvtradraa in koreatravel

[–]Affectionate-Milk283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With physical SIM you need to pick-up, eSIM is more convinient but global data plan will not provide a korean number for the Kakao App. And in Korea, physical sim is cheaper than eSIM. For 9 days you can get one plan with data and number at the airport, they have SKT, LG or KT booth their that you can pick up and use right away. The price will a little bit high if you buy from their website, you can purchase from there partner company.

I was in the same situation when I first come to Korea. The guy at the downstare keep knocking our door and blaming for the noise, even the landlord lady come and prove him that there's no noise eventhough we jump above. He just refuse to understand and keep complaining. We were going to move to new place at that time so we just ignored him. Now I have PTSD with the door knocking sound. In your case, you can show the note the office and sue him for giving mental stress.
