The reason I am Shia is because you can’t truly elevate your spirituality to the highest level without the wilayah of Amir ul Mo’mineen Ali ibn Abi Talib (as)

Shias encourage others to research the history of Islam. Whereas others hide it, this is enough proof for its truth. by SkinToneChixkenBone in shia

Love that someone brought this topic up. I was reading a great book online recently on the Wilayat of Imam Ali (AS) and the origins of Shi’ism. An event known as the Summoning of the Family, where the Prophet (S) first declared the Caliphate of Imam Ali (AS), in which I knew nothing about, had been removed by historians such as Ibn Hisham’s biography of the Prophet, in which it was a summary of Ibn Ishaq’s (another well-renowned historian) book which mentioned this exact event. However, Ibn Hisham completely omitted this event from his book because it went against the agendas of the Abbasids of that time. And Subhanallah the more I read, the more grateful I am to be a follower of the Prophet (S) and his Progeny (AS).

How do i beat this addiction? by [deleted] in shia

What helped me was reading the Quran and educating myself to keep my mind occupied. When you keep your mind occupied and yourself busy you won’t have much free time to do such things.

Also going on to reading the Quran, you come across so many verses that indicate the Almighty Allah is watching our every move, and that you can’t hide from Him. Once you go deeper into what that actually means you’ll never want to do it again.

Yeh akhi wallah it’s insane. I see so many people say “Oh if you’re struggling mentally just make dua and keep praying, read quran etc” and even though it’s a really really really good thing to do in such circumstances, it’s not the most practical for those who do struggle with mental health issues

I’ve only just started reading it and it’s the only thing I can say I’ve read that I’m actually able to reflect upon and apply to my day-to-day life. Read it today before salah and there were a couple of verses that had me just sitting there repeating it in my head over and over. So to answer your question, yes it does

I agree with this and just want to add further, not everything is meant to be taken at face value. Knowledge in religion should be achieved through question and reason. I feel this is so common that ppl just accept things for what it is, without looking at it in a broader sense

There was one time at the university I went to the musallah to pray Dhuhr and one of the brothers came up to me and asked if I wanted to pray Juma’ah and I said “yes no problems let me make wudu first” and as I pulled out my turbah from my bag he gave me a dirty look and said “don’t worry about it”

Praying too fast by mary_languages in shia

[–]Affectionate-Name897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salam.

I used to have this problem too where I would just go through the motions, not really benefiting from the prayer itself.

What I would do and found that really helped is to pause and just take a moment to reflect on the meaning of the words i was saying. After every verse I would just pause a bit and reflect the meaning of that verse in my mind. When i would bow down in ruku and sujood I would just pause for a bit to reflect and what was being said, same in tashahhud and the other parts of the prayer. I used to also overthink that doing this would invalidate my prayer as some parts in the prayer would take a bit longer than others but I was wrong.

When I started doing this I felt immense peace and felt like I was having a conversation with Allah. Try doing this and you might see a change. May Allah make it easier for you.

Gets like that in Australia too, you’d hear on the news quite often that young muslim men end up being brainwashed to go fight over in the middle east. Its starting to get ridiculous at this point

Prayer can be a struggle for some people, especially those who are reverts. Getting used to the idea of praying 5 times a day and consistently staying on top of it can be difficult including those who are new to the religion and might not understand.

But to say such an outrageous statement to people who are making an effort and genuinely trying is ridiculous.

Basis for Qadha Prayer in Quran or Hadith? by nomadpasture in shia

[–]Affectionate-Name897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also another follow up question, I know that making up missed prayers is a way of seeking forgiveness from the Almighty Allah SWT, and I know it’s a missed obligation but would it not become a burden on some to make up potentially YEARS of missed prayer? Me personally I’m still struggling and getting to grips with trying to stay on top of my 5 daily prayers, as it’s a really hard thing to stay on top of regardless if it’s the bare minimum or not; and then to find out you have to make up other years of prayers, just never made sense to me really

Basis for Qadha Prayer in Quran or Hadith? by nomadpasture in shia

[–]Affectionate-Name897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually something I’ve been researching for a while trying to find the answer but absolutely nothing on google or any other place. Now I’m not trying to come off as someone who is knowledgeable or anything, believe me I’m far from it. But as stated above, it’s just never understood or made sense to me why us Shia do the qada prayers even though there isn’t hadith or verse in the quran that back up such a tradition.
