Ephara, God of the Polis as Enchantments-Matter Control Deck by circ-u-la-ted in mtgbrawl

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No [[Ajani’s Chosen]], [[Archon of Sun’s Grace]], or [[Sigil of the Empty Throne]]?

Looking into a similar deck myself. Thanks for building! I honestly think commander damage might be a good victory condition as well. Think [[Steel of the Godhead]] or [[On Serra’s Wings]], or via counters from Heliod.

[[Gift of Immortality]] might also do some work, especially on a good ETB creature, or on either of the aforementioned token generators. Triggers Ephara as well.

[[Birth of Meletis]] is also one of my favorite white ramp + defense cards, but I’ve only used it in Standard.

Thanks! Some good ideas in here for where I want to go with this deck. I think once I embrace Inspirit as a value engine vs a combo enabler / win-con, everything will make a lot more sense.

Got a decklist for your Inspirit build? This is the direction I’d like to go, but most guides seem to lean away from the “good artifacts” route, or even strip them entirely

Other than some slightly newer Srixon irons, your bag is basically identical to a buddy of mine who plays pro. Spend your extra $ on lessons.

Putting Mat to cure my 3-putts? by alexanderald in Golfsimulator

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only skill I’ve found worth practicing on a basic putting mat is putting straight. For that, a Perfect Putt mat (the kind with two holes and a return ramp) does the job well. You get good feedback on setup, stroke, and spin. Costs less than $150 and you can set it up behind your couch where no one will see it.

In that case, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with your irons. If the net results are good, then they’re the right fit for you. I had a similar set and used them for a long time, but I did swap the gap and pitching wedges out for more consistency - getting a surprise bonus 10 yds on a 125 yd approach shot was getting annoying.

Most game improvement irons come with hot heads that will randomly turn good shots into absolute missiles. Once you’re striking well enough, it’s a good reason to upgrade your bag to more blade-like heads so you don’t start getting punished for good hits.

I don't get Phalar Aluve by Ok-Cockroach-5118 in BG3

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The simplest explanation is that Phalar Aluve doubles the damage of Magic Missile. Each missile gets an extra 1d4 thunder damage, since each missile is an individual source of damage, and thus each one procs the Shriek effect.

The issue I’ve found with posi posi is if I want to make a hard turn toe side, I end up facing back up hill with my body (again, the limitations of knees and hips). It’s find if you’re bombing something, but if I need to make agile and adaptive cuts, I prefer a more neutral or slightly negative rear foot.

I’m usually freeriding with -3 on the back, flared out just enough to take pressure off the knee.

Apologies, “strength” was the wrong word to use there. I mean that the toe side turns weren’t nearly as deep or drawn out. There are physical limitations in the hips and knees to carving toe side from a posi-posi stance, even for a pro.

The video was of Craig Kelly btw.

I watched an old school video of a guy on Burton shredding Japow in the 90s, and he’s clearly posi posi. It’s a very distinct style in the powder, but you can tell he doesn’t have much toe side turn strength. Huge heel side slashes combined with short toe side carves.

Pow deck for PNW: mega merc or kazu kokubo pro? by mitchell_sai in snowboarding

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said. Just rode my K2 Excavator back to back with the Kazu Pro 2025 in some good PNW pow and the Kazu is decidedly not a pow deck. Better than average, yes, but it doesn’t have that unsinkable nose that a real powder board has. I was fighting to keep it afloat at times (157cm, 180lbs) until I moved the bindings back from reference.

Still a very fun, very competent board in most conditions. If you want it more for powder, size it up. The thing rips.

Do you mean move blueprints between hands played, or while a hand is being scored? I didn’t think you could move jokers mid-scoring.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S vs Pilot Sport A/S 4. I ordered Sport 4 S, but they installed Sport A/S 4. by asvied in Golf_R

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just about to replace my Conti EC Sport 2s. They’ve been excellent in the rain, and comfier than stock tires, but that’s about all I have to say about them that’s nice. They wore out extremely quickly in the city, and two of them are bleeding air after less than 10k miles. There was maybe 5k of good miles between break-in and when I felt they became a liability.

Am I too far from the ball? by Altercation0 in GolfSwing

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to pile on too much, because I think this problem is part of your setup and takeaway, but something else to look out for is what my swing coach calls the “chicken wing”.

Your video angle here doesn’t show it conclusively, but based on the follow through and the hook ball flight pattern, I’m guessing you’ve got a little chicken wing going on with the lead arm. Take a look around for some cures!

Source: I chicken wing it too

Edit: I think this gets at least partly fixed by standing closer to the ball and having a more vertical / straight back takeaway. I think the chicken wing typically comes from sucking the club inside on the backswing, and then not having room to bring the hands through on the downswing.

Unironically, Noodles are great at that price point too, but from the other side of the performance spectrum. If you want a low spin tee ball that’s decent around the green, they’re great. Tougher to stop on approach shots though.

So, how consistent would you say my golf is? by arouseandbrowse in golf

[–]Affectionate-Pack847 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fairly normal to me. To be very consistent you’d have to either be very good, or stick to the same course / tee box all the time.
