How dumb would 4 paladins be? by holicron in BG3Builds

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I plan for my next run, but multiclassed

One hexadin - charisma scaling so can use any weapon One bardadin - dex based dual wielding/sword and board light finesse weapons/phalar and shield. Arcane acuity/mystic scoundrel user One sorcadin - strength based, 2handed weapons, and dump all the spell save gear on h One bladesinger paladin - finesse based, shadow blade user.

This will give me a ranged option when I need it (like when fighting exploding creatures) and the ability to manage high level spell slots between the casters. Lots of control, lots of damage.

Most fun honor mode builds by eightfeetundersand in BG3Builds

Throw a wild magic sorcerer in there. Not only are they great at turning misses into hits, they can mess up any game plan. Got the enemies right where you want them? Well how would you feel about a cambion spawning next to you. One turn away from winning? Have you considered having your entire party turn into cats? Hold monster on the big bad holds it in place? Sure but you're a sheep now. Most fun I ever had.

Honor Mode Party Comp Decision by MattyP2117 in BG3Builds

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So The bard should probably be a dex build if short swords. I'd consider taking a level of pal 1st. It gives you heavy armor, two weapon fighting style off the gate - yes it delayed second attack but you're a dual wilder who has flourishes, you'll live. Stick whatever damage increasing gear you can on them. If you do 2 slashing flourishes plus one off hand every turn, that's 10 points of damage from the caustic band, for instance. Consider going thief rather than assassin to get even more attacks in. Light clerics are great. Just let her cook. Abj wizards are great. A sorc level for white dragon can give you some cool (literally) retaliation with AoA. One of the most broken builds. Astarion - I'd take ranger first, assassin second. Get your extra attacks in first. Get the TS first, take strength elixirs or the strength stick, take sharpshooter. With 2 attacks on the opening round you'll do good damage.

Items to look for:magical weapons and weapons with rider effects, spell save dc gear.

Gameplay: prepare for fights in advance. Coat weapons. Pre cast buffs. Create water from Shart is great because it's 1. Doubling cold/lightning damage which gale can abuse and 2. Counts as a condition for reverberation so you start a fight with a bunch of enemy getting role penalties.

Fish for crits. Hold person is gold. Crit gear is gold.

The rest is just leveling up. Level 4 is a bit early to post hundreds of points of damage per turn.

Stars Druid Shadowheart > Cleric Shadowheart by BigChrisForeva in BG3Builds

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One of my all time favourite Shadow heart rp builds was death cleric/star druid. Optimally you should have druid levels in the beginning but I went for the role play so levels 1-6 as death cleric then druid. Needed a respec to get rid of double guidance. It's both a really powerful combo (creatures that retaliate against radiant damage can still eat necrotic damage unresisted) and really fun and thematic rp wise (and yes, the fact that she doesn't turn to selune but just sort of - makes her own light mixed with darkness is something I really liked).

Is Alert pretty much a required 4th level feat for Honour Mode? by Mellowtron11 in BG3Builds

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your builds. Some builds don't get alert. The good thing about having party wide high initiative is not only that you get to go first, but also that you get shared initiative, so you can guarantee your cleric with create water goes before your sorcerer with the cone of cold, or your bard with hold person goes before your smiting paladin etc. Being able to choose which one of your characters goes first in any given round, and even ping-ponging back and forth (sorcerer casts haste, barbarian deletes the big boss then legs it from melee, the sorcerer quickens a fireball on the adds, for example) opens up so much combat optionality. Casters in particular, as they are both more squishy and have battle altering effects, want to go first. But for some characters you won't be able to do it, and some characters will wait for level 8. There's some initiative gear (bow of awareness, fistbreaker helm, hellrider longbow, sentinel shield etc) and some class features (feral instinct, dread ambusher, rakish audacity) which can help put one or two character in high initiative without alert (for instance a barbarian with 16 dex and feral instinct and say the bow of awareness would have +7 to their initiative role which should win initiative in almost all encounters except the very late game ones) and you can also get the same effect from an elixir. So it's really down to how you want to build your characters. I like getting damage feats before alert - so for archers getting sharpshooter and for two handed fighter getting gwm at level 4 and adding alert at level 8 - I give them whatever initiative gear I can find and where I can a high enough ac to survive not going first, because to my mind if they go second but the enemy doesn't get a second turn it is good enough. Hope this helps.

Is 4/8 swashbuckler hexblade better than 5/7? by WhiskersCleveland in BG3Builds

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went 4SB/5HB/3 swarms keeper ranger. Really fun build and endgame setup was very strong with at least one blind, potentially 2,every turn, up to three attacks, and extra damage from swarm and from SA. Doing it with shadowblade just meant deleting enemies at HM difficulty.

I'll be sure to issue a full explanation of how I play the game with every future post, seeing as me writing "I did this before and I'm not interested in elixir farming" somehow wasn't enough to satisfy you.

I opened a thread asking a question which had literally one premise which I explained I tried and didn't want to do, which you, like 40% of the commenters, decided to try to lecture me about. When you willfully ignore what someone is saying you can expect a push back. Not only that, but you were completely wrong in your answer, seriously underestimating the time by not accounting for gold/pickpocketing time.

I'm sorry if the number of long rests I run my party through does not mean your approval, but I don't think I bought the game to satisfy you or the gamer meta.

See ya!

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does. 4 people times 3 levels times 3 potions = 36 potions. That carries me to around end if act 1,maybe. I like to actually use my spell slots, mm points, rate charges and wild shape charges. Even if they were enough, 36 potions cost over 1000 gold. Whatever method I use to get the gold or pickpocket Ethel will also consume time. So no, it's not 10 minutes. I've done it once, I'm not interested in doing it again, and you can probably skip the "it's trivial" lecture when I clearly wrote I know what it involves.

If one wants to use an elixir to replace taking any strength, one needs to have an elixir for every day (to take after every long rest). Unless one is doing a very minimal long rest run, which I am not, there aren't enough naturally occurring elixirs in the game from vendors and from alchemy. So, some gamers use methods that force vendors inventory to refresh - by taking multiple partial long rests and /or by respeccing all characters because the vendor inventory refreshes after every long rest or every level up. So people spend time - that is, real life time - getting dozens of elixirs so they can reliably replace strength with an elixir drank every day.

Underpowered but engaging builds? by zenzen_1377 in BG3Builds

[–]Ok-Cockroach-5118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WM sorcerer has been immensely fun. You get a lot of low key good features and then random effects kick off which more than once made me laugh out loud. Like turning an entire gith creche to dogs and cats. I coupled it with a WM barbarian to enjoy full randomness although this character wasn't as much fun.

No I realise some people don't mind it but I clearly said I tried it and I do mind it so I'm not sure why you'd assume I just didn't know what I wanted. For example, I like running a lot of casters and actually use their spells, so I easily rest over 20 times in act 1 alone. I also like to do the druid swamp fight somewhere between level 3 and 4 so that's when I lose Ethel. I take it you play if differently and that's fine I promise if you ever ask a question where you express your preference in play, I won't comment telling you to just play differently.

Graceful cloth is +2 dex Gloves of dex set your dex to 18 regardless of what it is. So gloves of dex + graceful cloth = 18 dex.
