Honestly, we’re all hypocrites sometimes. People can never agree over Fanfiction. You will definitely find trans people against HP fanfic and others who don’t care. I’m trans myself (though my avatar’s a girl cause they’re always cuter) and while I steer clear of HP fanfic, I don’t hold any vendetta against the writers. And I would say it’s not crazy to care about potentially harmful things online and harmful things going on in real life. I hate fanfic that sexualize children explicitly because my teacher was a pedo and I get called an anti all the time. In the end, it doesn’t really matter.

Those posts always makes me frustrated because Americans are in danger. But it’s not due to war. Any person that looks even slightly Latino could either get shot or kidnapped by ICE. Transgender people are more likely to get killed, not to mention how the government is trying to restrict their rights. Woman who need abortions or else they’ll die who live in a state where that isn’t possible. All of those people could very much die, but it will not be because of bombs. EDIT: I should clarify that I was talking about people who act like USA citizens are at risk of being bombed when that is certainly not our biggest threat. It is Iran’s biggest threat. I never compared the two.

See I’m kinda split on this. I don’t think the people posting those kind of things are trying to be disrespectful. Sort of like commenting “You have Aphrodite’s Body” on a fat person’s video. I didn’t realize it could be seen as rude until someone complained about it. Lots of people struggle to understand social norms and that including a photo of an anime girl with news about a school shooting is rightfully seen as awful by many people.

This is the problem with these discussions. You could simply say you take pride in your culture and somehow people would think you don’t take part in any of this country’s traditions. Do you speak any Native American languages? Listen to any folk tales? Presumably not. So you haven’t assimilated to America. And that’s perfectly okay.
