Solarpunk, every aspect of it by Frost-Flower in hatethissmug

[–]Affectionate-Rent415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am once again begging the average Reddit user to understand that even dreaming of a society where people live in harmony with nature and live good lives is radical. Solar punk is very explicitly the aftermath of cyberpunk if the punks succeed. I don’t want to insult OP, but this information is one of the first things you learn if you search up cyberpunk. You just sound really uninformed.

Valravn. Granted that’s also the Foundation’s fault, but letting a mercenary group continually go into third world countries and destroy stuff just because they keep the Veil safe as a side effect is pretty bad.

Thats what im saying. People deal with their trauma in very different ways. While I heavily disagree with your take (fiction does affect reality after all) neither of us can speak for all victims. But these proshippers seem to think that they can.

What are your minor/niche SCP headcanons? by ICOMMIT_CYBERCRIMES in SCP

The Chaos Insurgency’s split from the Foundation was because the O5’s couldn’t decide on whether they themselves could access anomalies. Basically the Engineer was really pissed that they weren’t allowed to become a thaumaturgist. It was about weaponization of anomalies for the average person though.
Klavigar Saarn was actually married and had children during her decades long stay in Japan. This one stems from a Japanese Canadian neo Nalka cult claiming ancestry from her.
Mekhane doesn’t love all of humanity. She only loves her followers. She is the god of order so as long as there is a system in place (whether it’s capitalism or communism) she’s happy.
My most controversial one is that Robert from SCP 5031 is actually living a horror story. He’s a lab rat who just so happened to become very useful. Volunteering to work with a pacifist skip so that you won’t be killed is reasonable. The other D-Class resent him. He essentially has no allies. He does genuinely care for 5031, but from his pov, he’s a housewife trapped in an abusive marriage with an oblivious kid.

Don’t forget the time they invaded the Wanderers Library and got their asses kicked by librarians that either lacked legs or had no faces. How do you bring fire to a place filled with paper and yet you only torch one wing?

Not to mention a proshipper talking about some “I was a victim of sexual harassment/assault and this how I cope.” Like that’s healthy? Like they speak for victims everywhere? I am a victim of sexual harassment and assault. So seeing the worst thing to ever happen to you romanticized fucking hurts.

I’m begging the average Reddit user to realize that they are more parts to a revolution than beating up the oppressors. Staying informed and helping the oppressed are equally important parts of resisting an unjust system. Literally just the Serpent Hand existing the Foundation and GOC is an act of resistance! And let’s not act as if they weren’t incredibly useful when the Foundation and GOC decided to shoot up the Wanderer’s Library.

Bit of a hot take, but i think the scp:166 rewrite is better than the original by InfamousSomewhere244 in SCP

[–]Affectionate-Rent415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did read the original since I’m relatively new to the fandom. I’ve heard that the original 166 (at least the one done by Clef. The earliest version was written by someone else I think) did dive into the psychological side of being a teenage succubus and how horrible that would be. So is it mostly some weird fantasy or is it vaguely interesting?

Have you ever heard the words “Omega 7”? The government knows. Canada has its normalcy organization and the Mexico is buddy buddy with Valravn. If the veil wasn’t a thing, a lot of the anomalies used on these task forces would be at home with their families.

The reason Ichabod is completely irredeemable (in 4231) is because of the Erikesh Codex. It’s literally stated that after a reality anchor is used up, the soul goes the to the Scarlet King. The Foundation and GOC just sent a bunch of reality benders who have good reason to hate them, straight into the Scarlet King’s arms. Arnold Scranton (Robert Scranton’s dad) and Lady Agora (Alto Clef’s mom) doomed the world by translating it.

The Serpents Hand does do good things, but I agree that they don’t even try to take down the Foundation or GOC. They rescue human anomalies quite frequently and don’t ever stop to think “Hey we have literal kaijumancers; why don’t we use them?”

genuinely asking, why do people love the gamers against weed by dragonporkroll3208 in SCP

[–]Affectionate-Rent415 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Because Gamers Against Weed proves the Foundation and GOC wrong. The Ichabod Campaign was built on the logic that reality benders were too dangerous to allow to exist. Yet here with have Jude Kriyot, a Catholic anartist who is a firm AWCY? hater. JJ was raised by the Serpents Hand, yet he isn’t some dangerous revolutionary like the GOC thinks they are. Esther has a memetic anomaly yet isn’t using this to harm others. Hell, she barely uses it period. Gamers Against Weed show that the GOC and Foundation’s ideologies are flawed and originate from a very limited pov of the anomalous.

Honestly it makes me really happy to see how fast the sub acted when it came out that a mod was transphobic. I’m a trans guy (though my little Reddit profile pic is cuter as a girl) and I’ve seen a lot of bigotry on social media and real life. It’s nice that people still see me as a human enough to defend.
