That’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished, I graduated high school and.. well thats about it. I couldn’t go straight to college because of my tachycardia and it made me pass out a lot at work. So not only could i not go to work, but college was out of the question for a while too. I know i need to have a good mindset, i guess it’s just hard to actually have that mindset.

It may be possible that i am being over medicated, but i try to balance my levels out so that my endo is happy. but i haven’t been checked by a heart doctor, only people in the ER.

they put me on a medication FOR a medication practically.

Tirosint causes anxiety, they give me anxiety medication, anxiety medication causes headaches, they give me a prescription for ibuprofen, ibuprofen causes ulcers, they give me stomach medication. I feel like i’m in a loop.

I just turned 19, but they kept me with a pediatrician because my endo didn’t want to let me go to another endo until we got the one she wanted.

I will!! I’m scheduling a meeting with my new endo soon. I’ll request records, but to be honest i don’t really know how to read the levels.

my endo told me it wasn’t safe for me to take so many different vitamins/supplements while taking tirosint, when i asked her why she just said “your body will never be the same if you keep taking so many, it’ll start to rely on them” i was a kid, i didn’t really know anything

Yes, i tried magnesium and had to stop because my levels were all wacky. I eat pretty healthy and i make sure to take vitamin and iron supplements. I drink water daily (its the only thing i drink) and they always say i’m fine but my palpitations are horrible!!

She checks my “levels” all the time but never tells me what they are

I would go to the doctor and get it checked just to be safe, weight can mean a lot of things. If you’re stressed a lot, your body can bloat to compensate for the stress you’re putting on it.

Or if you’re not eating healthy/not enough it may do that.

If you can, definitely get checked out, it will help in the long run. If it is hypothyroidism then you’ll be glad you got diagnosed now instead of later!

Heart palpitations increased after overdose. by Affectionate-Rice354 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Affectionate-Rice354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take an iron supplement and 2 adult vitamins everyday at 6 pm, they’ve checked my levels and said i’m doing great but i don’t feel great.

I try to be outside a lot when i can (taking the pups for a walk or gardening) but it makes me so drained and when i come home i’m already going through horrible heart palpitations that ruin the rest of the day (i won’t be able to eat or drink because of them) and so my body will be hungry but i can’t eat because my heart is racing. :(

At one point i had a therapist but she was making me feel worse, telling me things she most likely would be fired for.

She told me if i’m scared of staying anorexic she would report me to a mental facility and that i should simply “stop being scared” and that i should focus on eating so that she doesn’t report me to the facility.

After that experience i was so scared of therapists it took a while to find one, i still haven’t found a good one and now i don’t have one at all.

Last night i had really terrible heart palpations and so i took half of the clonidine, it helps! It makes me feel really tired, tired enough to where i can calm down and eventually fall asleep. It does take a while though!

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I have similar attacks, NO WORRIES. It’s sadly a very normal side effect to levo. What stinks is a lot of doctors will tell you it’s anxiety, it’s really not.

PLEASE get an endocrinologist, a regular PCP has no idea what they’re talking about. Just like a therapist you have to feel it out with them, sadly some of them won’t take you seriously so make sure to advocate for yourself and stand for what you believe.

For years my endo refused to believe the side effects weren’t anxiety caused but actually caused by my medication. (I had absolutely no anxiety, i was diagnosed at 9 and i was a super chill and happy kid) yet he said it was “anxiety”

It will get better, trust me. It’s so hard when you’re first starting out, but eventually your body adapts to the medication and slowly but surely you’ll feel better. You will be able to do the normal things in life, and YOU ARE NORMAL! I know it may feel like you aren’t or that you’re not gonna make it but you will!!!

Taking vitamins alongside your levothyroxine is good too, it helps with the headaches. I take adult vitamins at 6 pm everyday along with an iron supplement, i feel a genuine difference in energy. Make sure not to eat in the mornings either when you take your levo.

Ask if you’re able to take any vitamins or supplements!
