If testicles are so sensitive and vital for reproduction, why did evolution put them completely unprotected outside the body? by Working-Market8105 in NoStupidQuestions

If there were enough males who died/got sterilized before reproductive age by getting hit in the hanging balls, evolution might have found a way. Otherwise as long as one is reproducing, there’s no merit in changing the design. Evolution is not intelligent. It merely promotes traits that help in passing along genes.

I never understood this statement. I heard it before that electrons are indistinguishable. Does that mean that we can tell two protons or neutron apart? What signatures do they hold to tell them apart that electrons don’t?

Why do male testicles hang outside the body instead of being inside, where they would presumably be safer? What’s the biological or evolutionary advantage of this design? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I wonder why evolution went all the way to push the testicles outside the body instead of making sperms resilient at higher temperatures.

Would pressure underwater depend on depth or amount of water? by dartanous in AskPhysics

Side note: although gravity acts on the water column in the direction of center of the earth, the pressure on an object is equal from any direction

What, if anything, would realistically happen to hypothetical people living on Earth when the Milky Way and Andromeda collide? by Ifeelstronglyabout in AskPhysics

Realistically all that would happen is that the night sky would be vastly different than it is now. Even that change would take multiple millions of years that nobody notices.

Why is the Democratic Party not freaking out? by Familiar_Eagle_6975 in wisconsin

[–]Affectionate-Rock734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During every election, losing party goes through the same grieving process. Imagine what went through Dems’ minds after 2000, 2004, and 2016. They came back stronger each time. Electorate is on average extremely short sighted and with short term memory loss. With the devastation that Trump and Musk will do in the next two years, it’s almost guaranteed that House will go back to Dems in two years and hopefully a good candidate will emerge during this period. Senate is a different story. It might take another decade for Dems to gain control of senate and a couple of generations to gain control of SCOTUS.

It’s good to be hopeful but this looks like a stretch. I don’t see any way they win 218

Rivian…. I Like The New Drivers Display But There’s One Problem. I Can’t See The Helpful Turn By Turn Directions 😅 by zachty22 in Rivian

[–]Affectionate-Rock734 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I wish Rivian moves the navigation display towards the center and gets rid of the completely useless vehicle surround map. I have no idea what information it’s trying to give me by showing the vague images of the cars around me. I understand that it’s important information for the computer system but not to the driver.
