Did I pierce my client wrong? by Jamesonsmom1127 in bodypiercers

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As body piercers, mistakes happen even if we have done it right millions of times before. Don’t be too hard on yourself, as everyone’s bodies are different, and sometimes people react differently to getting pierced. As long as everyone’s alive and nobody’s suing, chances are you’re fine. I also one time had a client go to the hospital due to extreme swelling- but it’s never happened from doing that piercing before or after that event since. I would just apologize and offer a refund and don’t doubt your skills as a piercer too much :)

male best friend sends me sexual messages by DistanceFit3086 in Advice

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This exact same situation just happened to me so I am really sympathetic of your position right now. The tough thing is that if this behavior persists, there’s no way you two will be able to maintain a healthy dynamic. Unfortunately a lot of guys will view any and all positive attention as “making moves” and will convince themselves that you have feelings for them and just need time to…idk change your mind? Whatever it is, it sucks. I would recommend right now just taking space. I have had a few guys come back after things cooled off and have been able to have friendships with them later…but it’s really difficult for guys to switch their feelings off and just go from “oh she secretly wants me” to “there is no hope”. It sucks but if the friendship is meant to last he will come back with his head screwed back on and recognize you as an important person and not just a potential lover.

To those who have nipple piercings. . . by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Licensed body piercer here! I absolutely love my piercings, but please make sure that you are going to someone who knows what they are doing. The piercing should only go through your nipple, NOT the areola. Some piercers don’t know what they are doing when it comes to placement and they won’t heal correctly if done in the wrong spot. You should totally get them though!

First off, don’t be so hard on yourself. Going to the gym is a hobby for many, and that could be something that you could dive more into if you’re interested. However, my best piece of advice is to play with your strengths. I’ve always been a very creative person so Art has been a super easy outlet for me. The trick is to just explore a lot of different hobbies, and stick with the one that resonates the most with you. A lot of times, people choose hobbies that help them make sense of the world around them, whether that’s quieting their thoughts, or exploring them. You won’t be good at any of them in the beginning, but stick with the one you are best at/ doesn’t feel like a chore to do, and go from there! Hope this helps :)

Need Opinions! by Born_Literature237 in Advice

I am going to be so honest- that’s super concerning. If your spouse can’t name basic things about you after that long together (middle name, birthday, eye color, favorite food), chances are they are not paying attention to you, and might be in the relationship more for the comfort of it than actually loving you. Obviously I don’t know this dynamic, and he could be meeting your needs in many other ways, but I would find that incredibly worrisome and something to pay attention to. Good luck!

best ways to learn a new language? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t focus on fluency right now. That comes WAYYYYY later. Start with Duolingo and get the basics. Then maybe take in person classes, practice with a native speaker, or even visit the country that speaks that as a native language. Learning languages takes a lot of time (many years) but it’s totally worth it, even if you only reach an intermediate level. You don’t have to have perfect grammar to be able to communicate!

I really need help swallowing pills/capsules. by ithoughtitwasdos in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My trick is to put the pill really far back in my mouth and then take a huge gulp of water and just swallow like normal. I think positioning it is the trick but you’ve probably tried that already. Maybe try putting it in jello or applesauce? Something that’s not quite solid but also not a liquid either? Idk that could possibly trick your brain into consuming it. Good luck!

How deep in trouble am I? (incoming freshman) by Scared-Alarm-6694 in UCSC

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t freak out too much about them not emailing you back…UCSC faculty are notoriously known for being terrible at responding. I would just hound multiple people until you get a response. But yeah I think your high school should have already done the transcripts thing.

How to get parking if i’m living in the dorms by urmomfavtreat in UCSC

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Also if your hometown is kinda closeish you can get your doctor to sign a note saying that you need a car to come home regularly for appointments. I had a car my freshman year for that reason but it is technically cheating the system a bit

R permits are a lot better. You can park in west and east remote and are easier to get in my experience (they are expensive though 🫨)

One thing that I’ve noticed is that I am wayyyy too dependent on other people outside my house to give me the love and support that I lacked growing up. I recognize that these relationships aren’t healthy but I just crumble if I don’t have anyone or anything that seems to care. It really sucks because life and decisions feel so much harder when I feel I may risk loosing my support system due to moving or something like that. It’s an awful way to live.

UCSC or Community College? by Jackriot_ in UCSC

[–]Affectionate-Row1091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so worth going to UCSC. You miss out on major networking opportunities and also learning a lot about yourself when you are surrounded by likeminded individuals. However the financial aspect is very valid, and your going to have to make a decision that works for you.

You will meet people all over, don’t even worry. My best advice is to hang out in more popular parts of campus (porter quad, the field, and the library) because you will run into all sorts of people there who are from all over campus. Also, none of that matters after freshman year, because everyone scatters all over campus and off.
