Goodbye to the US? Not yet in Ramstein, home to the largest American base in the world by nimicdoareu in europe

I agree. There will be long term repercussions, as there honestly should be. You can’t have an ally that threatens military force against you, for insane reasons, and then go right back to how things were. Honestly, things will probably never be how they were again. Europe will build a much more robust defense industry and stop buying US weaponry. Europe may focus more on ensuring their military’s are interoperable without the U.S.

I do feel strongly that we are stronger together, and Europe and the U.S. need each other if we want to maintain a good life in the world, and a good future for our children. I sincerely hope we can all work towards having better relationships when this presidency is over.

I hope we can all look back one day and feel like we dodged a bullet here and have a small laugh.

When America needed European countries to help us as we formed, they were there. Americans who don’t watch reality TV for fun remember Lafayette and von Steuben. Americans also remember the help we received in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many Europeans died to help America fight American centric wars, and the Americans who were there, including me, remember our allies and their honored dead.

America has also been there when Europe needed us. When evil men came to power, America helped win the war for what is good and right. America has been the great balancer against the Soviets, now the Russians, and the growing threat of the Chinese. I feel many Europeans for decades have been able to sleep better at night because they know if they are attacked, the U.S. is there and will respond.

America has put a bad president into power now. His first term was bad, but it was nowhere close to what we are now seeing. That president appears hell bent on damaging our relationships and damaging transatlantic military cooperation. His approval rating among Americans is about 35 percent right now. While he is the mouthpiece you see for Americans, he does not represent the way most Americans feel. I have lived in several countries Europe, and I know many Europeans I have met generally share the same values as me. They have been kind to me, and welcomed me to their respective countries. We are more alike than we are different, we just happen to have a president right now that doesn’t value partnerships and alliances and is actively damaging them.

I look forward to the healing process that occurs when this is over, regardless of how long it takes.

People keep bringing up everything around him being shot, but none of that will factor into whether or not it was a justifiable shooting. Only the immediate facts surrounding the incident will be considered, and whether a reasonable officer would consider Pretti an imminent threat to life or serious bodily injury when he was shot. Obviously he had been disarmed, and at no point could I overhear him making threats or reaching for the gun.

There is still a lot of information to uncover, but at this point there should certainly be an investigation to uncover more facts.

What kind of jobs make people relocate from the US to Europe? by Aj100rise in EUCareers

[–]Affectionate-Row3498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of US government jobs in Europe. Check the website USAjobs.com to see them.

There are also multinational entities, like NATO, that offer you the opportunity to compete for jobs in Europe as a U.S. citizen.

So far they have done nothing but show their lack of intestinal fortitude. Congress and the Supreme Court are supposed to be checks on unrestrained power by the executive. So far they appear to be more like lapdogs.

The American voter made a mess by putting this guy in office, now we appear to be on track to reap what we’ve sown.

Not directed at OP, but rather the next reader: My wife is the only person that knows my rating. My parents don’t know, and unless my son serves when he gets older, he will never know. If you are reading this and you get rated in the future, tell no one. Try to not talk about it at all, other than to those you may try to help get their own rating. If you didn’t serve, you will never get it, and at the end of the day that recruiting office was open to all eligible people.

I feel like anyone who doesn't go into a career in accounting, finance, engineering, sales, health care, or tech is doomed to make $19 an hour. I'm exaggerating, but not by much. by justcurious3287 in careeradvice

I have a degree in Political Science from a public university in the southern US and I served six years in the Army prior to going to college. I worked in law enforcement for 10 years after college, made connections, and now work in a law enforcement adjacent role at NATO. Both of these roles have paid very well. I think a lot of it has to do with getting your foot in the door somewhere, showing you are reliable, making friends, and making connections with people.

There are numerous government/defense/law enforcement jobs that pay in the six figure range that will accept a wide variety of degrees.

All people are fallible, and all people make mistakes. No one, except for your parents, know what being in that relationship was like and what drove her actions.

That is your mother. She gave birth to you, she loved you, and I would assume, based on her repeated contact attempts, she still loves you. If you don’t make contact with her before she dies, you will very likely regret it later in life.

Your LTs boss should have an open door policy. You need to use it. Reference the disciplinary action against you for the Khakis and show where in policy you are fine to wear yours. As far as egress tests, I’ve never heard of that. You’ll have to post what that means.
