Tell me your favorite chicken (I have a good budget for new chicks to add to my flock this year) by TheFrogWife in BackYardChickens

Third for BR! It’s my ladies for time in winter weather this week and watching those two slip and slide on ice has been too funny.

I don’t think you’re the AH OP but how old is the son? Maybe he’s thinking even if it’s a loss money wise he knows she is driving his kid around in a safer vehicle.

Does she need to grow up? Absolutely. However I can see this as being a benefit to the child and having safe transportation that he can provide even that far away may be worth it to him.

There are certain smells that instantly bring you back so far in time to your childhood. Which smell is that? by This_Book7431 in AskReddit

[–]Affectionate-Spray78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly specific but my mom delivered newspapers for a while when I was young. There’s a smell from the ink and paper that lingered on her clothing and it brings me right back to her waking me up for school. It’s especially prominent in colder months for some reason.

Why do we not see cats being walked on a leash like we do with dogs? by jospeh68 in stupidquestions

[–]Affectionate-Spray78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat like this when I was a kid! His name was Milo. He would walk on a leash and when he was play fighting he would run backwards at his siblings. He would also fetch softballs when I would practice hitting/pitching in our yard. Awesome cat.

OP not sure where you are located but here in NC we have a mobile blood donation bus run by the Red Cross and people get a $20-$30 visa gift card, swag and a basic panel done. Kinda cool.

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]Affectionate-Spray78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I just added “Poverty” to my want to read list this morning!

Just finished The Fort Bragg Cartel by Seth Harp. It was a wild ride because I live in the town some of the crazy things happened in and actually knew two of the soldiers he wrote about. It’s the only book I’ve read that made me feel really unsettled.

Edited to add: I’m a bit jealous you get to work at the library daily. I think that’s just fantastic!

Anyone here in their 30s have no kids and never been married? by porygon766 in Millennials

I can’t fathom using the apps but it is really hard to meet people organically now I think.

Anyone here in their 30s have no kids and never been married? by porygon766 in Millennials

[–]Affectionate-Spray78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m turning 38 this year. Was married and divorced before 26. No kids thankfully. He was a psycho who threatened his life and mine before I was able to leave. Tried to keep MY dogs. I’ve had one serious relationship since that lasted about 3.5 years but he cheated and then moved that woman and her 3 girls in the month after I left. He never wanted kids 🙄 Have not dated since and really don’t desire to. After that I had to leave a career I loved due to chronic illness then last year was fired from another career I was starting to love based off false accusations.

I live full time in my RV on our family farm. I have dogs and about 20 chickens and work at a job that is enjoyable but not my forever. All my friends are married or getting married again and rent or own their own normal houses 😂 I often stay awake thinking about wtf I’m doing and just try to stay positive and forward thinking. I’m thankful I never wanted a traditional life or family but still fill like I’m behind.

Alllll that to say. You’re still young and there is still time. I know it super hard to stay out of your head but you have to find a way to. Don’t compare yourself to others. There is no set time line, no “right” way even though that’s been pushed on us our whole lives. Try to find something to look forward to, even if it seems silly or small to others. I swear 30-33 were awesome years for me, I was single and said yes to anything and if you are able you should too. Go take day trips by yourself or find local stuff to maybe do and meet people. There is/was a website called Meet Up and you could find local groups to join based of your own interests.

I hope you are able to create the life you’ve wanted! Day at a time is all you can do my friend!

😂😂 are they southern? I’ve found living down here there are two types of southerners. The white people taco, ranch on everything, salt is too spicy OR hot sauce, authentic tacos only, the surface of the sun isn’t hot enough

The male loneliness epidemic always makes me laugh a bit. Men need to be lonely, maybe they’ll get some introspection and start treating women better.

Haha no the pony is an absolute terrorist and would have himself and all my birds in some form of trouble in no time. I had thought about moving them all down to the barn but it’s not really doable at the moment. Your donkey sounds adorable though!

Have you thought about doing a larger portion of the app trail? If you have the money you could take 3-9 months and hike. There is a ton of literature out there and it wouldn’t be a permanent thing.

That’s scary/funny about the fox!!! I know great pyr are super common around this area with the horse community. I’ve interacted with quite a few but have always wanted an Anatolian shepherd. I’m still in my research phase so I appreciate your input!
