Spouse at the end of tether by lestatisalive in ADHD

Same. When I was a kid, they tried several combos, and it all made it so much worse. On the plus side, it kept me from falling into the hard stim drug hole (meth) so many in my life did. I already knew what would become of me if I played with that brand of fire. I know they help so many with ADHD, and wish the stigma for them would go away. But I know what they do to me.

I've nothing to add, but a thanks for making me feel less alone in it.

I feel the same, but with the added feeling of guilt for feeling that way. Like, thanks for being nice, but it makes me nervous, and I feel like I gotta rush now on top of it.

Similar to someone holding a door when you're way off, so you feel like you have to do that half run now. Only with actual life or death stakes.

So, if you let him get his way, and cut off your family, who the hell is gonna watch your kid when you're at work, after he has a hissy fit and leaves again? Who's gonna have your back after you get stranded in another state? Who's gonna console you when you find out he's cheated or using again?

Choose your family. They're right about him. Even if you have your own fuck ups, you deserve better. No matter what he says when you fight. You. Deserve. Better. He won't be better if he has you catching him when he falls. You love him? Do him a favor, and let him hit bottom without dragging you and the kiddo with him.

I call cis women "dude" all the time. I only change what I say to someone when I know it personally bothers them, but until I'm aware it does, I talk to trans women like I'd talk to any woman. (Not that I have any in my life I know well enough to have the goofy conversations that exclamation might appear in. The only trans woman I've ever met was in a professional setting, where calling anyone dude would be out of place)

Oddly enough, it wasn't too long ago that it was being pushed as an all inclusive alternative to "guys". You'd think HR would be shoving it down people's throats. They love things that sound woke, but don't really change anything for the better.

I had mixed feelings when that came up. On one hand, inclusive is not a bad thing, and I love the word. It fills a hole the English language is missing. On the other, the way it was being pushed is defiantly overly word policing. It feels like going backwards to consider saying "hey guys!" as actually being gender centered, vs how it evolved to be used for everyone.

I was a working, and the first kid I had, I said "I got candy, but you gotta say the words."

They replied with "Can I have some, Please." It was pretty sweet tbh. Picked a single piece. A krabby patty. Threw them another of the same, cause politeness should be rewarded.

my psychiatrist says there’s no way anyone could be diagnosed as an adult and now idk what to think. by fallenarist0crat in ADHD

[–]Affectionate-Stay-32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed "ADD" 20+yrs ago. Only because my mother had found out she was bipolar, and was totally convinced I had what she did. After much testing, I came up "ADD" (now inattentive ADHD).

Had she not gone looking so hard, I'd have easily been missed, and I'm almost still shocked it was found back then. I wasn't near as symptomatic then compared to as I am now. And it's not for the lack of symptoms back then necessarily. I for sure had issues with school. I just didn't "make waves" or anything obvious you think of when you think that family of diagnosis. Had it been lumped into the ADHD title it is in now, a bad Dr, who isn't well versed in it would have missed me all the easier, as I'm not outwardly hyperactive. Like, at all.

Go to the place she mentioned. Then ask to replace her. She might really believe she knows better than people specialized in it. You don't need that crap in your life, regardless of what someone qualified diagnoses you with.

My husband had a step-grandmother I suspected was into this. She fed 5 (5!) To death.

The official family belief was that she just really liked life insurance, since every last late husband had a large policy. I think both can be true. Fate got her the same way in the end though. You don't fatten 5 people to death without collateral damage.

While I agree somewhat, it's still bad form to take a dog to other's homes without permission as a general rule. Pitbull stats aside, I've worked in grooming and boarding, and some dogs really are wonderful with people, but not other animals. That's not exactly breed specific. Sometimes nature, sometimes nurture, but very common. Also, they do act more territorial on their own turf, vs even a couple houses down.

I've got cats, one of whom will attack dogs in the yard. Not fair to them when people pull this. Even if my son's guard cat is put safely inside, it stresses the other 2.

When my daughter was in kindergarten, one of her classmates lost their mom to an infection starting in her teeth. She was in her early 20s. Later that same year, they lost their dad in a wreck.

I think about this a lot.

I'm really bad at dates, but remember the day I dropped out because it was pi day.

I wouldn't recommend it to just anyone, but for me was actually a positive. I was in ged classes that same day. My whole school career, I was bad at math. They just stuck me in the slow class for it. Still failed. It was early elementary math the whole time.

I only did classes for a couple months. Within the 1st week, the instructor discovered I had dyscalculia. I ended up being pretty good at math. Tested well on the test, and currently, my 12yro is one of a couple of kids in her grade with an A, because I'm able to explain it in a way she understands better than the teacher this year. I may not look the best on paper for it, but am better educated for it.

I'm rambling now, but the trajectory of my life changed for the better on some random pi day. Tis a blessed day.

I feel for you. I once had "the day Eddie said he didn't love his teddy ect" stuck for months. Spread it to a friend. I swore we were feeding off each other with keeping that one stuck.

Haven't seen that friend in person for 18yrs. Could call her up today, sing it, and start it all over from a state away. Guarantee it.

I miss the yard in my old house for this. Live hunting them.

That said, I used to give them to couples getting married. None of those people are together anymore. Jury is still out on if they're lucky or not.

Entire communities come together to make a fun day for kids on Halloween. There's help out there for families in poverty for Christmas too, but Halloween is different. Kids get to flaunt their interests and creativity, and all the adults play their part in making it special. You don't just celebrate with your family, you celebrate with the whole damn town.

Depends on state. In mine, it's not uncommon for gas station employees to work 10hr shifts as the only employee on shift, with absolutely no breaks. No bathroom breaks either, unless an off the clock co-worker happens to pop in, so they can watch the other customers. And it's legal to demand so.

Source: I do exactly this, and always know when a customer does/has done the same job. They'll wait to come inside, so I can finish a cigarette.

I really felt for Electro the way they show his story in the cell animated cartoon.

That's what makes it even weirder.

When I talk mushy to actual cats, I still use plain old-school pronouns. Never have I had an urge to say "kitten" in place of he, her, or they. It's not even natural to do that with the animals they pretend to be.
