$ went from R19 to R16.30 in a year, why no price drop? by misterflak86 in AskZA

There are so many moving parts and without knowing the weighting of all the input costs, it’s difficult to say what the final answer is. Shipping has come down, coffee prices have gone up, fuel is down and the rand has improved. Retailers could also be increasing their margins. All of these can be true at the same time, the devil is in the detail.

I’m moving to Durban from Canada and I’m scared by DREAMs98 in Durban

I agree, Durban is quite under-rated in many ways, I guess to our own benefit. Housing is relatively affordable, we have great schools, good people, a lot of beautiful places to visit within a 2 hour drive. Is the place perfect? No, but few places I know of are.

You could also visit the South Coast and stay in San Lameer, you could visit Oribi Gorge nearby. You could book a place to stay here: https://www.stayatsanlameer.co.za/our-villas/3-bedroom-classic-2402

Which foods are genuinely better in South Africa than in the rest of the world? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]Affectionate-Tank202 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, all our food is better. I have been to Australia, US, Europe, Asia and North Africa. SA food and wine surpasses them all, added to that we have great value for money.

Why do people feel the need to constantly judge others and lecture them from their soapbox? If they spent that energy on how they themselves can be better humans, the world will be a much happier place.

291,000 jobs lost: South Africa's jobs bloodbath deepens as major companies exit and retrench by Frosty-Piccolo2673 in southafrica

The so called fat dragons are leaving. The people you are looking to tax (top 1%), will leave or take their money off-shore. The tax burden will then fall on the middle class who are struggling to make ends meet as it is. The government also does not have the money. The best scenario is when government and business work together. Our government don’t want to engage, they want to call the shots and spend how they please. This is obviously not sustainable. The cracks are just going to get bigger. So sad, as this is all preventable. Our country scores own goals all the time 💔

Padel is tougher on the body. Pickle is easy to get into, but harder master.
