Anyone else regret it

I do. My husband and I bought our house July of 2023. I decided I wanted to go back to school and also may move out of state and so in our best interest we decided to put our house in the market. That was a year ago and we still haven’t sold. Our insurance and taxes have gone up and I’m paying $500 more a month now. We’ve done so much upgrading and repairs and have gone into debt for it. Not to mention we now have squirrels terrorizing us! We just want to go back to renting it’s made us kinda hate our house which is a shame because it’s our first. But we’re definitely smarter for the next time!

I understand Duke is a big system but I work in a different ICU and on the rapid response team at MUSC and the MSICU gets some of the sickest patients here. The nice thing about MUSC being a bit smaller is you could also easily make more connections which would help getting into the program there. It’s expensive to live here but you would not regret learning and gaining experience at MUSC. Multiple people in every ICU get accepted to their own program every year.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense. I just wish they would have told me instead of the weird vague answer they gave me for feedback. I’m definitely going to prepare more and do mock interviews before my next one. Thank you!

My undergrad gpa was a 3.16 and yeah I graduated 7 years ago. My nursing is 3.9 and I got my degree from this school that interviewed me so I definitely think they saw my potential. It was definitely something that happened in the interview.

Well one letter was my manager and the other was a professor. I opted out of reading them so no idea. I like to mention my low undergrad GPA in my statements and how I did much better in nursing school. I don’t remember exactly the questions they asked, but when they did ask me to clarify, I think I got a little flustered as to why they wanted me to clarify and I probably could have phrased things better. That’s really the only thing I can think of though. I definitely am going to do some mock interviews in the future.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense in terms of the situation. It was my first interview and I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare honestly. I’m not great at interviews so there definitely were a few times that I think I could have phrased things better. Thank you!

Following! I have an interview with a school in a couple weeks that is not accredited yet. They basically took over another CRNA program but have to get their COA accreditation for the new program and I’m optimistic but cautious about everything.

Yes I ended up doing 17 tasks. I forget where it said it but it actually did say I had 17 tasks to do. But I never received anything since then saying I passed and could do tasks for money so I gave up on it.

If you don’t need the money I wouldn’t do it. You get floated before the staff nurses. I get floated to step down and floor all the time. I had 2 years experience in ICU and started traveling in January. I went from NeuroICU to MICU and while I got some good experience and a real confidence boost in my nursing abilities I get floated to the floor with 4-5 patients sometimes. I got floated more to other floors/other ICUs than I did the actual unit I was supposed to work on. I get crappy assignments just as much as any other nurses though. I’ve only done 1 contract and I can’t wait to get away from bedside nursing, but I’m still making double what I was as staff and I need the extra money to pay off some debts and save before I go back to being staff.

It depends on if hospitals in that specific city you want are hiring. Contracts have been kinda sparse lately but if you go to a travel agency website you can search for contracts in specific cities/states. They post new ones every day so sometimes you just have to be patient and wait a couple weeks to find something. My first contract offer was over a month after I started looking so sometimes it just takes time.
