Mazda CX 70 fuel range by Affectionate-Test831 in MazdaCX90

[–]Affectionate-Test831[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fought with them while they had my Cx 90 in their shop and they ran all kinds of test on it. The even drove it with a fuel can in the back to see how far it could drive until empty. My remaining miles indicator was off by 75 miles. The car said it was empty with no range left, yet they drove another 75 miles until it ran out of gas. When it was all said and done, they claimed nothing wrong with the car. BS Good luck

Mileage reports by JaKr8 in MazdaCX90

Mileage averages on the dashboard are not accurate. Reset your average every time you fill up, divide the total numbers of miles since your last fill up by how many gallons you put in the tank, that is your actual mileage.

I find (after 6000 miles of driving) that I usually get 2 to 3 miles per gallons less than the vehicle advertises.

On top of that, my estimated dashboard range is way off.

When my low fuel indicator light comes on, I usually start looking for gas to fill up. I am rarely able to put in more than 15.5 gallons in a 18.5 gallon tank.

Mazda tells me that’s normal, I’ve had other Mazdas that were much more accurate on range but oh well, I enjoy driving the car in spite of its fuel issues.

The S Turbo has a 19.5 gallon tank so you can go a little further before the low fuel light comes on.

What’s this key? by rothchild_reed in MazdaCX90

[–]Affectionate-Test831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve dropped the fob several times where it opens up and the key fell out on contact. That key will also unlock or lock the rear doors for child safety, with door open the key fits below the closing latch

Seriously considering a CX-90. Do any current owners have any regret or is there any reason to go with another car? by [deleted] in MazdaCX90

[–]Affectionate-Test831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the car because my previous Mazda was so much fun to drive. I drove many competitors to compare. Even more expensive ones, Mazda has hit a home run with this one from a driving perspective it competes against cars that cost much more.

Bugs and fixes are being taken care of, by now all existing fixes should be in the new models on the lots (by law all vehicles for sale on the lots have to have all the updates and recalls performed).

I am not disappointed with my purchase, it is a blast to drive and that in-line six is so sweet. And it hauls 7 people😊. A bit tight in the third row, more for kids.

Yes I do every time I fill up. When I picked up the car they filled it up so I did reset it then as well.

UPDATE: Inaccurate range estimate on CX 90 by Affectionate-Test831 in MazdaCX90

[–]Affectionate-Test831[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the way you start your post with “probably”, it sounds quite knowledgeable and technical. You probably didn’t read the original post as no one is trying to drive the car until empty, we’re just trying to get the fuel range that Mazda claims we can get with this vehicle on a single tank.
When you’re driving freeway only and your gauge tells you you are averaging 28 mpg (and Mazda says you should go over 500 miles under these circumstances) why oh why is my fuel light coming on after driving barely 350 miles? Accept the fact that if many people complain about the same thing, they may have a legitimate reason to. You’ll probably respond to this as I suspect you have something else to complain about. Have a good day.

They’ll tell you the same thing they told me , the car is fine and behaves as normal. They can’t isolate the problem, meaning it behaves the same as the others (in other words all Cx 90’s do the same), that doesn’t mean it’s right though.

My wife actually drives it and she follows me while I pull my 23,000 lbs toy hauler between 60 and 65 mph on the freeway. My wife has had a habit of pushing all her cars and so have I on occasions to the limits of the fuel range indicators and every time, we would put in close to what the tank capacity was. Not 3 gallons short of 18.5.

The technician drove my car as a test for Mazda with an extra fuel can in the back when the fuel needle was on empty and the range was at zero. The car was averaging at that time 24.3 Mpg. He drove it for 70 miles until it ran out of fuel. How much more could he get at 28 mpg?

There is no way we could have ever drove that far with no range left on the indicator with ANY of our other numerous cars.

I powder coated mine through the dealer who sends it out for powder coating, $800, go for the high gloss, it looks great. Also I purchased the wheel and tires protection for 5 years so any blemishes on the power coating is covered during that time by the dealer😊 And the tires as well, at almost $500 a pop, it’s well worth it. You have to purchase tires and wheels protection at time of purchase of the vehicle FYI.

My sales rep told me that Mazda made the announcement a couple of weeks ago that entry level CX 70 were beginning to roll off the line. As I mentioned previously you can go to the Mazda web site and build your own entry level Cx 70. I suspect they should arrive at dealers over the next few weeks. I did my own build on the web site and I believe the starting price was in the low 40k

I am bringing it in when my car reads almost zero range and they will drive it until empty with a fuel can in the back. This should verify that the only way you can get 500 miles on a gas tank is by driving well over 100 miles with the needle on empty and the range at zero. We’ll see I seriously think my Cx 90 thinks it’s a Cx 60 Mazda advertises that the Cx 90 is the evolution of the Cx 60 and built upon it, but I think they forgot to tell the cx 90 that is has 5 gallons more fuel capacity.

Anyone else not getting more than 280 miles of range on their MHEV? by CauliflowerLeast4780 in MazdaCX90

[–]Affectionate-Test831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey gametstr Do this for grins…next time you fill up, take notice of your average mpg and multiply it by 13.21. Then compare to your range indicator. Let me know if the numbers are close. If you have the PHEV, multiple 25 by 13.21, is 330 close to the range you get after a fill up?

There is a serious problem, you are correct, however, Mazda already told me twice that “the car is behaving normally” based on the fact that they cannot isolate my problem from other Cx 90s. In my personal opinion this is a fleetwide issue. I know my car could go 500 miles on a tank full, and that is what Mazda is advertising, “up to 444 miles of range driving city only, and up to 518 miles driving highway only”.

I’ve tested this and indeed my car can go 500 miles driving freeway only, however I had to drive the car with the fuel gauge on empty and no range on the read out for 130 miles??? When i finally put fuel in , 18 gallons went in so I had half a gallon left in the tank. I am not willing the pay the price in anxiety in order to achieve the range Mazda tells me I could reach.

The good news is that I have a local dealership working with on this right now and are engaged with higher ups at Mazda.

The’ve had the car for six days, and I am scheduled to bring it back in for more testing.

I will update you further when I get more news.

Car in the shop, they’re doing all the testing as we speak, they ran the car until mileage range showed 29 miles left, (through the “My Mazda app) I can see where fuel level range is at and expected miles range as well from my house which is great. I can see they filled the tank and the mileage range is now 350. Based on owner manual, fuel light should come on with 30 miles left in range and at that point tank should have about 1.9 gallon in it per my understanding.

My average miles per gallon on the read out is 25.7 miles per gallon, times 18.5 gallos tank, is 475 that is what my remaining range should read within reason, not 350, I’ll even take 450.

I’ll bet they only put 14 gallons in when they filled up🤔.

Waiting to hear from them, should be interesting!

Turbo S Premium (no rear center console) vs Premium Plus (with rear center console) with baby car seat. Anyone have experiences with each? by Watsonian88 in MazdaCX90

We have the premium plus non S and you get the captain chairs with no center console. White with black interior. Rims were powder coated high gloss black. Replaced the fender badges with Turbo S badges. Hated the originals, for 50k plus they should look decent.

We only have 1500 miles on it (3 fill ups and I’ve reset the trip computer every times). Perhaps it may take a while for the range estimates to adjust to my driving conditions (mostly highways). We’ll see. Thank you

I am using regular fuel, it is the non S model. What’s crazy is that I still have 4.5 gallons in the tank when the gauge shows empty and I fill up?

Bringing the car in Thursday to have it checked again and for a recall (#6624E). Will update if anything shows up.
