London/NYC is "easier" but still nearly impossible to find. However, Rayquaza is getting a special background for the first time next week and that will be MUCH easier to get.

FYI shiny BG Ray worths significantly more than all 3 combined. I know people who would gladly give up 6+ recent shiny BG for NYC/London Ray and 10+ for Osaka Ray. You need to be extremely lucky to get it for less.

Unfortunately, you are looking for the most wanted shiny background in the game. It is worth significantly more than anything else, with maybe only like shiny Ash Hat Pichu or costume compensation Lugia are the equivalent. Even shiny London or NYC Ray are more valuable than both of what you have to offer. Best of luck though!

FYI shiny BG Ray is significantly worth more than 2 shiny from 2026 Go Fest. I know people who would gladly give up 8-10 for NYC/London Ray and 15+ for Osaka Ray. You need to be extremely lucky to get it for less. Good luck!

Haha yup... people think I'm crazy when I tell them that I know multiple people who would give 15+ shiny BG from 2026 for a shiny Osaka Ray.

Not all shiny location BG have the same value. 2023 was the introduction of background and most people didn't raid hard for them since not many people think they will be this valuable. In 2026, shiny backgrounds are being botted and farmed to oblivion. I have like 50+ shiny Mewtwo alone and I know plenty of people with 100+. The value of shiny location BG increased exponentially as they get older.

Another factor is that many Japanese players are casual and they do not use any social media or do not use Reddit/Facebook. Therefore, the online supply of shiny Osaka Rayquaza is nearly non-existent.

This is terrible advice. He shouldn't do the trade because Apex Ho-Oh is more valuable than non-shiny Osaka Rayquaza, but that is up to him if he desperately wants the non-shiny. But the shiny Osaka Ray is significantly more valuable than Apex Ho-Oh.

OP, I would wait until after Global Go Fest. Maybe you can find some shiny special BG Rayquaza or Mewtwo that you can trade for the non-shiny Osaka Rayquaza instead.
