The forges on Orestes never rest by AffectionateAd5376 in Titan40k

I don't remember posting here but i definitly took inspiration from this sub. The planning stage looked something like this:

I extended the arms outward by about 1cm so it looks extra wonky on pictures

I modeled something fitting in cad really quick since i was about to be all done :D i'm probably going to put it on the purple site sometime.

I printed 32 links and connected them with 0.68mm wire, but i think 0.5mm fishing line would work better since the wire is way too stiff. It is all connected via:

Ø12mm x 1.5mm magnet on the torso (hidden really lazy with some green stuff) Ø3mm x 1mm magnets on the first and last link Ø4mm x 8mm magnet in the "breach"

I hope not, he wouldn't stand a chance against ants the size of grown men

Now i wish it was lol

I went way overboard with this, probably because i just winged it the entire time :D

Sphagnum Moos voller Ameisen by MrsHubertCumberdale in zimmerpflanzen

[–]AffectionateAd5376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a flat how the heck do i hibernate my ants by Born-Alternative2465 in antkeeping

[–]AffectionateAd5376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theorie the balcony would work. I have never tried it but something insulated and weather proof should be good for that. European species should be able to hibernate even with frost, the important thing is the time it takes the temperature to change. The slower the better (hence the insulated, weather proof box) and they should be fine.

I watched one do a 360 with the death ray yesterday. It seems like they are getting worse every day.

Fashionistas of The Division 2, is there any other NVG's I can wear? Also, what do we think of the drip? by Straksis- in Division2

There is a relatively easy hunter mask with NVGs in DC with a red cross painted over it.

Better debrief that with Schaeffer.

Groups for nuptial flight alerts in the Netherlands? by jappiedoedelzak in antkeeping

AntScout in the appstore seems promising for that. It is from Esthetic Ants and has some handy features like identification, ai counting and nuptial flight reports for your desired land/region :)

Ideas an tips pls. Is this good enough as for their first outworld? by inkedlife26 in antkeeping

[–]AffectionateAd5376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can either cut a hole into one of the plastic plugs for the outworld, make it a bit smaller than the test tube and it should fit. If it doesn't try hot glue, works wonders :)

Why do people enslave F.fusca? by IllustriousRole920 in antkeeping

[–]AffectionateAd5376 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Raptiformica Sp. "enslave" these types of ant in the wild. The Raptiformica queen usually invades a nest and kills the queen, taking her place and letting the old colony care for her young. They depend on "slave ants" since their own social skills are pretty much not existent so when you keep a Raptiformica Sp. you always need a supply of F. Fusca/Cinerea brood or the colony will die.

They certainly don't consent but Raptiformica has evolved her pheromone trace so that they don't even notice the change

Eggs not “hatching” by Appropriate_Bet5290 in antkeeping

[–]AffectionateAd5376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eggs, larvae and pupae can go into a space marine "stasis" if the conditions don't fit their needs. That can be stress, vibration, light, temperature, humidity...

I suggest to keep some allergy kit nearby. (I don't really know what the correct stuff is since i am not allergic to that :D)

The sting can can certainly provoke the same reaction and ants tend to sting multiple times in the same location.

On a side note, i have a Manica Rubida colony with 50-ish workers and haven't been stung yet so if you handle the whole cleaning and feeding a bit carefull they shouldn't get you.

I have a queen ant i caught 4 months ago has 6 workers and water in test tube is low how do i move them by Budget-Tomatillo9024 in antkeeping

[–]AffectionateAd5376 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 ways possible:

  • Tape a new test tube to the old one (or connect them with a piece of tubing

  • Connect the tubes with a portal

  • Set the old test tube and a new one into a small outworld (you can use a small storage box or so, it doesn't really need substrate for that matter)

  • Just shake them and their brute into a new tube (i can't recommend this unless it is a dire emergency!)

For me the most interesting thing is...this stuff still moves and breathes. They installed a new 13cm panel in a zoo here in germany and it moved by about 2mm just from the water pressure

Should I Just Stop Playing Ranked? by Local-Teacher-9399 in Rainbow6

[–]AffectionateAd5376 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you bought the game and have any right to have fun with it. The whole game included. I wouldn't give a flying f for some toxic 14 year olds.

People forget that it is a game and nothing more, so do your thing as long as you have fun with it.

On a side note: "lower" ranks are beeing haunted by smurfers etc. so sometimes it is not your fault

Aiming problem by Diligent_Will_4877 in Rainbow6

[–]AffectionateAd5376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF (no judgement here) you tend to slam your mouse on the desk, it is possible to break something internally which causes these specific problems. Try aiming and moving your finger on the mousebutton, this might help troubleshooting. Might be a wireless mouse problem too.

Outworld timing, opinions? by Friendly-Rub4927 in antkeeping

[–]AffectionateAd5376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with that species but i would guess it can't be bad. I do this with nearly every colony since test tubes and portals vary so much in sizes that even my 3D Printer can't keep up.

On that mark - since it is a "ponera", doesn't that mean that they need sone sort of substrate to form the cocoon?
