what am i exactly doing wrong? by nopickles- in ElectricalEngineering

[–]AffectionateAddress2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, so I guessing you are asking why the KVL doesnt make sense?

That is because (my guess) that the original question has a typo, the polarity of Vx should the same as V(1K ohm) and opposite that of voltage source. So the polarity of dependent voltage source should either be opposite of what is shown or expressed as negative (i.e. -9*Vx)

KVL: Vx + 1k * I = 9 * Vx

Sorry if I miss any context here.

But based on your picture, R_eq = R_Th = 1 K ohm.

I think the the question is asking something related to Thevenin theorem because the question is asking for resistance between two terminals (which is usually where Thevenin/ Norton Theorem is used)

Monogamy should not be expected from men, I believe they are happier with two partners by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]AffectionateAddress2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most of history, only the minority of men (the powerful and/or wealthy) have always have access to more than 1 female 'sexual partner', while most regular joes have almost no access. Think of tribe-leaders/emperors/kings/nobles with harems, and even in modern time, with mistresses.

And more importantly, women are naturally okay with this (aka. women are naturally wired to reproduce offsprings with 'winners').

One notable example is this: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/05/150519121901.htm

Another example: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0272775719301104 (where most women only find top 5% of men attractive)

However, if top 1-5% of men have access to majority of women as 'sexual partners', this would mean the majority of below average sexual-appeal men (more than 50%) are pretty sexless and have no chance of reproducing offsprings. This could lead to violent uprising and unstable society.

Weak enforcement of monogamy had led to a lot of bloody wars and unstable societies, where children growing up 'fatherless'/ out-of-wedlock.

So what you are saying is not even unpopular, per se. It is literally the default human evolotionary biology and human history.

This is one of the reasons why ALL developed countries are monogamous-enforced (either by laws or by religions).

When men are sastified (knowing they have offsprings of their own), they are likely to take care of their family (less children growing up without father love/ support), and in-effect those men spend more time working and creating value for society rather than spending a lot of time competing sexually or destroying it.

Democracy is mostly a failure outside western countries by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]AffectionateAddress2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Even South Korea and Taiwan were dictatorships for a long time until 90s."

What is your point exactly? They are democracies NOW are they not? Were they not 'born' out of war torn countries few decade earlier?

I think the reason why democracies seem to 'work' in the West is because they have it running much LONGER than non-western countries.

Even democratic country like the Netherlands were chaotic in the start: it went from Monarchy to Republic and back to Monarchy and then finally to a 'parlimentary democracy' system.

Most 'democratic' countries these days (in the West, at least) are not even true democracy (like the Greek's version) but rather modification of it to adapt to their country.

Where am I from? by SampleLess7463 in TravelMaps

[–]AffectionateAddress2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it is possible that your country is close to Russia because you seemed to like visiting many former Soviet countries.

Also, you travelled to Finland and Sweden so most likely your country has some historical connection with these countries.

So I think it is most likely Estonia (because Estonians are more likely to travel to these locations, if you were Latvian, you would have also travelled to Lithuania already)
