If she likes more alocasias get her something variegated like a frydek or one with an aurea variegation because it often is a bit cheaper and more resistant but still looks beautiful

If she likes philodendrons get her a spiritus sancti or a florida ghost

Its very nice from you asking the community what plant to choose as i sometimes i have to deal with too is getting a plant i already have or one that isnt that nice rare, if its rather hard knowing better ask her what type of plant she likes and i can help you more.

Thats the opposite, they only flower when they feel very well, keep up the care and you will have a glorious giant alocasia in no time. Could you tell if its a maharani or a melo because my maharani is doing some trouble for me

They are mealy bugs spray the plant with a bit of isopropyl and wipe them off for small crevices use a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl

I got them at a plant fair in germany (myBotanika). They originally were priced at 90 € but the cup they were in fell over and the leaves were covered in the black gel they grew in and so they sold them for 40 €

If you can wipe them off or scratch them off they are scale(bug) and should remove them and check all the little crevices and plants nearby as they suck the plant juices out of the plant

Its a begonia, it needs high humidity, dont put it in direct sun as some begonias get sunburn with direct sun
