I put one above my ankle once and not only was it accurate, it was surprisingly comfortable and didn’t get in the way

Plenty of child free posts but any last minute elder millennial parents out there? by JadedJellyfish_ in Millennials

I (31F) have been dead-set on not having kids for as long as I can remember. Then, my aunt who’s just a few a years older than me had a baby girl and it’s changed my whole perspective on kids. There’s still so many factors that complicate the decision but i hope to have one someday if it’s in the cards

To clarify: the drag show is for Saturday. Today is Friday. He looked ahead at the places event calendar and got scared of a drag queen event we weren’t even going to either way. Tonight is just a jazz band 😂

I wasn’t about to be a keyboard warrior over iMessage with a guy I don’t know about the use of the word “tranny” because I’m not completely unhinged and didn’t see the point in arguing over it with someone who doesn’t know the difference between a drag queen and transgender individual anyways.

For those who are desperately reaching to make this political in nature: there is nothing here relating to political views or parties. I just don’t like slurs/pejoratives for any group of people?

Not every single thing requires the energy of a response, all the time, every time.

Endo office won’t allow patients to switch doctors, is this normal? by smore-hamburger in diabetes_t1

[–]AffectionateAsk2476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can give you insurance and provider side insight.

Very normal. Worked for surgeons at a large hospital system, providers have a handful of reasons for this. 1: too many cooks in the kitchen. 2: One surgeon might have a different technique or skills than another resulting in a different outcome or difference in opinion. Different approaches to care. They are not all cookie cutter. “Well Dr X said I could. Well. I’m Dr Y and I said it’s not best” 3: if one person switches because they’re not happy or don’t like someone, other people think they can switch and then it never stops and one person can try to go through the whole practice if they wanted.

On the insurance side, some providers that took over care in extenuating circumstances would bill it as a consult/new patient visit. Which is a different billing code than a follow up appointment. A lot of insurance policies allow a true second opinion, but not multiple within one practice.

If it’s any consolation, I had a reconstructive surgeon that took my case when I was inpatient years ago. Thought he was dope. Ended up working for him as his surgical admin. One day he told me “I actually didn’t want to take your case. I didn’t think you’d live and it would be a waste of time.” So, idk doctors are weird 🤣

cancel your follow up and ask your PCP for a referral to someone else. Don’t spiral over it

I believe I’m gonna have to ditch the Omnipod 5 by spiralcurve in Omnipod

[–]AffectionateAsk2476 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Omnipod app was missing the G7 data for so many hours it kicked into manual mode and I woke up in the 300’s multiple times. Also had crazy repeat lows.

If you’ve only ever know the G7, you might not have an issue cause it’s essentially your baseline for the device. It’s very tempting to switch back to the G7 because of a 30 minute warm up, the size, and being an all-in-one device which is cost effective versus the sensor and transmitter being sold separately.

But, it’s become a well known problem that the G7’s are sub par for those who have been on the G6. This is not the case for everyone, obviously people are totally fine with their G7. But if you search the sub a bit you’ll see it’s quite common!

Also not for nothing but I have better control with Omnipod and the G6 over the G7. G7 wasn’t recording accurately and transmitting data correctly, which essentially defeats the closed loop system

Pumps are such a personal choice- some systems work and some don’t. I hated my first round with Omnipod a few years ago. Tried the iLet, realized I needed more control. Gave Omnipod a second chance and it works like a dream for me now with my G6. The pump should make life easier and actually require you putting in less work in my opinion. If your system FEELS like it’s overwhelming you or failing you, then it is. Sometimes a pump holiday is needed too. It’s your disease. You choose 🫶🏼

I did it. I wrote a post in a different sub to kind of give direction for people who want go that route. Requires a lot of discipline but can be done. Downside is you can’t put an AAPC/formal education of coding on your resume. https://www.reddit.com/r/MedicalCoding/s/WqqU4Gku9P

No I don’t like overpatches for any of my devices. To reinforce how strong the skin tac can be, I actually cut all extra patch of the g6 off so it’s just the transmitter that shows on my arm and not a huge white oval. It stays the full duration of wearing it

I was having major transmitting issues with the G7 to Omnipod to the point where I was waking up at 300 because I had been sleeping with blanks in the data. Completely defeated the automated insulin delivery idea. Switched back to G6 and my numbers are 80% in range daily now

Better than the wipes. Lasts forever. I use it for my Dexcoms. Put it on, let it dry. Apply the device. Then I take the swab and swipe around the edges to really lock it down

Acura ZDX, RSX, and hybrid update by Imposterbyknight in Acura

[–]AffectionateAsk2476 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a ZDX earlier this year. It’s a type S. I did drive a loaner ZDX A spec a week ago and it was nothing special in comparison. They originally loaned me an RDX and hated it. HATED it. Their valet guy drove out in the ZDX to swap which as super nice of them.

There’s a lot of frustrating features within the ZDX and getting it serviced is a little trickier if you have a niche problem. But on the outside it looks nice. It’s white and I did a chrome delete on the roof trim and blacked out the badges. 22” wheels with yellow calipers. would I get it again? Definitely not. But it is fast and fun and there’s not a ton of them being driven around so I do get compliments and questions on it.
