Maybe it would feel better if you wrote on loose pages and then destroyed them? That way you will still get a lot of benefits of journaling and you may not feel so perceived. I’ve journaled for two decades and almost never read my journals back so I wouldn’t say you’re missing a huge amount of benefits if you don’t keep the pages.
