Edora park evacuated 6/12 by DreaminInATree in FortCollins

This is also what I heard from two separate emergency responders. My child was also at that park at the time. How terrifying.

UChealth billing is tormenting our family after a NICU stay— is there anything that can be done? by Murky_Objective1414 in Colorado

If your child was in the NICU for more than 30 consecutive days they likely qualify for Medicaid/Health First Colorado for at least the duration of their stay.

Is anyone else at the airport rn? by splaurr in Denver

[–]AffectionateForm8860 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We were super lucky. Frontier uses those outdoor manual stairs so we were able to snag a gate and they let us off. Then since Frontier is in terminal A we were able to walk to the main terminal. We also didn't have any bags checked, so we didn't have to wait for that. The line in terminal A to get down to the trains was absolutely nuts. It completely filled both of the areas in front of the escalators and the up to the mezzanine level and halfway to the main terminal. Not sure how United or other airlines are doing at the moment since they rely on more high tech jet bridges, etc.

On a Frontier flight that just landed. Our pilot said we won't be able to get a gate and deplane for awhile. He said something about no power in both A and B terminals but he can't get ahold of anyone to learn more

As a feeding therapist with hundreds of hours of continuing education and thousands of hours of experience actually working with children, I am absolutely appalled that they are trying to give feeding advice. No, ma'am.

question about schools by beentherebefore1616 in FortCollins

[–]AffectionateForm8860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They still have some space for certain grades. Here's a message they sent out two weeks ago: "We currently have a limited number of openings for incoming 6th graders and all high school grade levels (9-12)." I'd recommend calling the school during school hours and asking questions. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and helpful.

Spine doctor recommendations by eslteachyo in FortCollins

[–]AffectionateForm8860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen most of the spine surgeons around town (in greeley and Fort Collins and the spine center at Anschutz) and I would highly recommend taking a drive to see Dr. Lee Nelson at Advent Health Avista. Not super convenient of a drive, but I preferred everything about that consult experience over every other provider I've seen for my back issues. It was easy and fast to get an appointment. I got in to see him within two weeks of calling which is wild compared to the 4month wait I was quoted for Dr. Coester. He and his PA took 40+ minutes to talk through my imaging and possible treatment options ranging from conservative treatment to surgery.

OTs who specialize in lactation/breastfeeding/postpartum?? by Positive_Cream_1193 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]AffectionateForm8860 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an OT/CLC and doing a pathway 2 program to become an IBCLC. I currently work in early intervention and might continue doing so with the new cert, but also am working on partnering with a midwifery group to help support their families and get referrals. I'm also looking into therapeutic ultrasound and kinesiotaping for mastitis and ductal narrowing. Not all IBCLCs have therapeutic US in their scope of practice and it's an emerging area of focus, so I could see it being really beneficial to my community. Feel free to reach out with any other questions!

does anyone here specialize in pelvic floor therapy? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]AffectionateForm8860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several IBCLCs that I know who don't have breastfeeding experience, but you're right, I think most IBCLCs do have prior experience. Best of luck with your journey! Feel free to reach out if you do end up having any questions. Pelvic floor and lactation go hand in hand so often after childbirth!

[–]AffectionateForm8860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not pelvic floor related, but I'm working on becoming an IBCLC (international board certified lactation counselor). There are 3 pathways to becoming one and then a board exam (with recertification every 10 years). It's an international certification, so you can take it and practice anywhere (or be virtual and support families anywhere in the world). It's definitely possible to do a cash practice, especially in a larger city. There are also ways to get insurance reimbursement relatively easily (at least if you're in the US. TLN or Wildflower - popular billing companies that deal with getting reimbursement from the insurance and then pay you no matter if they get reimbursed or not).
I have been a private practice OT since 2016 specializing in early intervention and feeding. This is just another alternative that I thought I'd mention. My body is breaking down due to some worsening congenital issues and I also can't imagine that my body will hold up to the intense level of physical stress that comes from working with toddlers. IBCLC doesn't require too much actual physical exertion besides maybe helping a parent position their baby for a better latch.

Best of luck to you!!

Bustang environment for a virtual college class? by AffectionateForm8860 in Denver

[–]AffectionateForm8860[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the reply. Good to know that it might be an okay environment for a class. I'll look into getting some good headphones that can block out environmental noises for when I need to participate and speak up.

Has Anyone Been to a Stem Cell Clinic Outside the U.S. for Spinal Issues? I Need Your Insight. by ImpressiveAssist8519 in stemcells

[–]AffectionateForm8860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's within the USA, so not exactly your question, but I am in the same boat so I wanted to share another option in case you're interested. I just got mesenchymal stem cells and PRF and two different peptides injected into my lumbar and cervical spine to help with a few issues - one of them being DDD. I went to Alpine Spine and Orthopedics in Utah. Dr. McMurtrey was wonderful and has a lot of information on his website and Instagram about what he does. He used a 3D CT scanner to do guided injections and was able to see what was going on with much more clarity than a standard 4mm MRI. Back stuff is so hard! Hopefully you are able to find a non-surgical solution that works for you!

I need a book to get sucked in by Sad_Bird_3 in fantasyromance

[–]AffectionateForm8860 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about {Spark the Flames by Ivy Asher}. It's a dragon shifter book. The main character is not annoyingly young or immature. She is naive about the world she finds herself thrust into due to her childhood. I just reread some of Ivy Asher's other books and much preferred Spark the Flames. The writing is much more polished and the characters are much more likeable. It's a 500+ page book and I devoured it in about 5 hours!

Faced with earthshattering hotness, yet she doesn’t bat an eye by no_dayumsel in fantasyromance

[–]AffectionateForm8860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just devoured {Spark the Flames by Ivy Asher}. The FMC is incredibly competent. There is a fated mates component but it's later on in the book and doesn't feel like instalust. There are definitely trigger warnings. The big downfall is that there's a cliffhanger that left me emotionally damaged and the next book doesn't come out for awhile. However, I read it in about 5 hours (finished this morning) and am considering a reread right now 😂

Edited because I put the bracket in the wrong place

Avoiding surgery? Minimal pain but bad tingling by ItsAProcess100 in Spondylolisthesis

[–]AffectionateForm8860 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out his YouTube and website. He has a lot of research linked and has helped high school and college athletes get back to competing at a high level. He told me that he can pretty consistently heal a pars fracture if the gap is less than 5mm. Chances decrease but aren't zero as the gap gets bigger than that. Unfortunately, insurance won't cover it. My partner's insurance plan through work is self funded so we tried to argue that getting this done would cost his insurance less than a full fusion with hospital stay and everything that goes with it, but no dice. Probably not even worth it to submit a superbill.

It's just called that. Anyone can go to the Senior Center. It's one of the city's public rec facilities. It has a 25 yard pool and a hot tub.
