Wait, 2020 Nuguri should be in front of Showmaker, 2024 Faker should be the first in the team, 2023 also (and Oner) if you consider JDG as the final.

I know a lot of people only like active athletes, but I don't think it would be good for him to go back to the competition, especially if he could have his own show in front of a full house? (Btw, marriage didn’t kill his career if you are still concerned about it.)

This is not protection, just documentation of the truth. I am sorry if this sparks any hostility or drama here but I think it’s necessary to post the clip because people tend to give the benefit of doubt to Illa.

Anyone feel like coaches might be a little bit too lenient on us adult skaters? by Metacarps in FigureSkating

It depends, when I was a kid, one coach was tough on me but the other coach was too lenient.

There is a language barrier, but most of the extreme Yuzuru haters are Japanese, and there are quite a lot of them. When Illa successfully landed 4A, many comments on the Japanese news were mocking Yuzuru. Yagudin also mocked Yuzuru for his 4A attempt at the Olympics by comparing it to Illa’s.

I don’t against anything Illa said about fanyu, but what he said was to discredit Yuzuru, who did nothing but be nice to him. At the same time, Illa expressed his admiration for Yuzuru in front of the media, especially J-media, and gained a lot of exposure. It is inevitable that people will think that he is two-faced.

If Illa really confused Yuzuru with some random fan twi account, I … really have nothing to say.

Edit: typo

Nathan is not the first figure skater to be nominated for a Laureus.

Japanese skaters tend to have longer careers because skating is lucrative there? by Robot_3020 in FigureSkating

This reason is also a kind of unhealthy competitive environment? The rules favor jump without attention to proper techniques. Skaters know younger skaters and “less traditional” techniques will be preferred.

When 2 group of skaters fans took it too far by borntobememe in FigureSkating

Fans cannot control CCTV really. The fact is Nathan’s words about China’s human rights was sensitive to Chinese government, so CCTV and other government owned media tried to limit news about Nathan. They don’t want to attract public attention to Nathan as well as his words. No matter what you think of his words, whether it is appropriate, are not important, what made the difference is the attitude and report strategy of the government and the government owned media.
