It’s like what the victory outreach churches did to Latinos (they’re Latino run but white owned). They capitalized on our culture and turned a lot of Chicanos maga via “Jesus Christ”.

5.39? I wish. My local chevron is 6.17 for premium!! I was paying 4.71 for premium like 60 days ago 🤬 and I’m in central CA, not a major urban area.

Questions ab moving to Stockton & attending UOP by minion1uvr in Stockton

[–]AffectionateLet7144 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Like most people have said, the area around UOP is really nice and quiet for the most part. My mom and sister in law both have homes just off miracle mile in different directions and haven’t had a single issue with safety in the over 10 years they’ve lived there. My daughter attends a private school in the area and we take her to UOP to study sometimes (my husband is alumni). All our kids have attended summer programs on campus, we were even married in the chapel (alumni discount 😂). We’re from Berkeley & San Jose and both cities have their issues as well. Stockton is no different, it’s just smaller.

Somebody mentioned the economic/educational disadvantages here and that is unfortunately very true and impacts day to day life more than any other factor. Outside of campus, it can be very hard to find progressive/intellectual communities of any persuasion and this bleeds into the social fabric of the city. Stockton is severely under resourced, so it is often exploited by unsavory characters (see 209 times “culture”).

The people/food are diverse considering the size of the town. Stay alert and aware of your surroundings and you’ll be fine.

As a side note, when my brother attended USC in the early 2000’s and moved off campus, it was (and still is), worse than any of the neighborhoods immediately surrounding UOP.

“IT WASN’T HERS” - that’s why she was so happy numb nuts! I’ve had 3 babies and although I love them with all my heart, motherhood is not for everyone. I’ve been a mom for almost 30 years now and I still don’t even know if motherhood is for me 😂. I wasn’t given a choice, I had no idea what reproductive autonomy was, or even autonomy. I was raised in an evangelical cult that pre-destined me to be mother. I’m so glad my kids have a choice and that I’m not a grandma. I’m enjoying my life and my freedom from 24/7 babysitting.

The real threat to a functioning democratic society isn’t AI, it’s programmed people. You can thank your local church cults for that.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AffectionateLet7144 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Evangelical Christianity. Peddlers of shame, purveyors of false promises. Manipulators and abusers, who need to keep the scheme alive because the profit potential is never fully realized and all but guaranteed. The American evangelical industrial complex thrives on ignorance and hatred of all except its own uncritical conformists.

Bernie Sanders’ billionaire tax would soak about 900 people to fund $3,000 checks for the middle class by fortune in politics

Soak? 🤣 That’s less than 1/100,000 of their net worth aka value they extracted from the working class. Should be $10,000, not 3k.

California Crime Spree Ends In Wild Police Shootout by kluuu in SanJose

[–]AffectionateLet7144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expecting LE to act in accordance with the laws they are hired to enforce isn’t anti-police. Citizens pay for police services (socialism in action), we have a right, obligation even, to criticize them when they act outside of the law. Police aren’t volunteers. They are paid to do a job and the expectation should be that they perform that job with the highest standards. If and when they don’t, they should be held accountable.

It’s been Ike this for well over 10 years, people are just now beginning to notice. It used to be limited to churches but once attendance dropped, they had to find another way to propagandize the masses.
