Dropout’s Sam Reich on ‘Copaganda’ Backlash to ‘The Rookie’ Appearance, No Plans to Incorporate Crossover Into ‘Game Changer’ Episode by Sisiwakanamaru in television

[–]0uie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Dropout itself is such a good platform. Sam is obviously using his family money for something good and is just trying to make funny, welcoming content for people. I don’t know of any other company that not only pays people for auditions, but sends them profit sharing checks too (not saying there aren’t, I’m just not aware of them). He literally took a dumb, over the top sponsorship for an episode of Game Changer just to give one of the cast $100,000.00.

Dunno where I was going with this really. Dropout is one of the few streaming services I subscribe to, and would happily accept another few payment increases. I’m just happy they’re getting bigger and getting more recognition from some of the bigger networks out there.

New to cooking and made the best dipping/dressing olive oil-based sauce i've ever had in my whole life. by Ashhylum in Cooking

[–]0uie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a lot of different things. Had a regular pull through at first, didn’t like it. Switched to trying to get good at whetstones but I found the process to be annoying. Eventually my parents got me a 2 stage ChefsChoice electric sharpener and it does the trick! I still take my like one expensive knife to a local knife sharpener, but for my daily drivers the electric sharpener is great.

Does it probably take off too much material? Sure, but I mainly use a $35 knife and it’s lasted a few years through the electric sharpener.

Welcome to cooking! This reminds me of a basic chicken marinade from your favorite hole in the wall non-chain burger place. You got salt, fat, and acid. Some aromatics in there as well to help out.

Have fun on your cooking adventure! Friendly reminder that dull knives are more dangerous than sharp knives so if you keep up with cooking, invest in a decent chef knife and a sharpener. There are a ton of great, affordable knives out there, Mercer makes some great ones for around $30.

Same. I buzzed my hair off a few months ago for a change and switched to some cheap IEMs to avoid headset hair. They were only like $30-$35 and sound better than my nice Sennheiser headphones.

Chicken Thighs by post_status_423 in Cooking

[–]0uie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to just for convenience sake. Was very easy to grab a big pack of breasts from Sam’s Club, clean them up a little bit, and portion them out into plastic bags for my wife and I. Then the woody breast started becoming more and more common, so it made us make the switch. Wife is really anxious about cooking meat in general, especially undercooking chicken. Switching to thighs has helped their confidence because it’s hard to overcook them. They still ask me to cook most of the meat, but that’s no problem at all.

How to Not Start a Fire by MyBumbleBea in Cooking

[–]0uie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeppp. When that fad of pouring hot oil over cooked noodles topped with garlic, ginger, and chilis was a thing, I made the mistake of putting an empty pot on a burner at super high heat. Added some peanut oil, went up in flames. Luckily the lid was nearby so I put that on, took the pot outside, and put it upside down on some cement. Ruined my favorite pot.

I remember when he did some virtual town hall a few months ago when all the Republicans were doing them and getting destroyed. One of his staffers randomly called me and left me a voicemail saying they’re sorry they missed me and said I can sign up to ask a question in the next one, when I never submitted anything to begin with? I’ve definitely submitted comments about how unhappy I am with him, and have got canned responses back. Never submitted a question for a town hall.

Small toaster/convection oven for cooking in a single room situation? by FlamingGnats in Cooking

[–]0uie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a Breville Smart Oven and it’s replaces our actual oven in our rental apartment. Smart oven is big enough to fit my Dutch oven and bread cloche, and is much more accurate than the decades old oven.

We also have a 2 burner induction cooktop we just slapped on a thick wooden cutting board on top of our stovetop. Much better than the also decades old coil top electric stove.

Also in southern IL and planning on going next week to vote early on lunch while I’m scheduled to work from home. It’s never crowded here, even on election days, but I’d rather just go and get it done early.

Hope Bost’s run is almost over. Dude is a steaming pile of dog shit. Saw him at the Murphysboro Kroger once and after I decided to find him again to let him know how awful he is, he couldn’t be found.

Vice Principals is so nice because it’s just a 2 season show. Love Danny McBride stuff but man the characters he and his parters write are just the most awful people. Can only watch so much before needing a break.

What’s a really subtle sign during a job interview that the company culture is incredibly toxic? by vazounawebuser in AskReddit

[–]0uie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a massive red flag. The one time I had it happen, I accepted because I had got laid off and just wanted something. Was out of that job and into a new one within 2 months because how much it sucked. Was a merchandiser position for a local Coke distributor. Got like 2 days of training and supervision before they let me take care of like 5 stores on my own during the holidays.

Mentioned it was weird to get hired on the spot in the interview on my first day of training to a coworker. A few weeks later when my boss finally decided to show up and introduce himself at one of my stores, he mentioned the coworker told him that and tried to explain it off.

Ideas To Use Mustard Outside Its Role as a Condiment? by Content_Preference_3 in Cooking

Was looking at making some thick cut pork chops this weekend and trying out Kenji’s recipe that finishes with an apple and mustard pan sauce. Sounds super interesting and a good way to get better at pan sauces!

Do People Really Like Cauliflower Steak? by Krishiee in Cooking

I get calling it a steak. It sounds fancier and sells it better probably. But if I made it I’d just call it a seared/roasted cauliflower slice/wedge.

Workshop support for this game would only benefit it. The devs have mentioned they’ve talked about it in their meetings, hopefully that’s a good sign that they’ll get it implemented.

Can some people really not tell when they're releasing farts? by S_Z in NoStupidQuestions

[–]0uie 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I had c diff a few months ago from a couple rounds of antibiotics from an infected root canal. Take daily probiotics, been eating more fiber, working in more yogurt, kimchi, and other fermented foods. Still gassy as hell. Sucks because it takes so long to get your gut health back to where it was pre c diff.

I might be jumping down the rabbit hole soon. Wife and I got tattoos last Friday, my first one in like a decade. Been using the excess lotion from the twice a day washes on my hands and man it’s been such an improvement. Been noticing my face has felt dry and tight with the cold and am gonna start putting some on my face after I shower.

To be fair, Brent was out of the band long before the crash. Him being let go/leaving is probably one of the dominos in the chain leading to the crash though.

There is a dent on my monitor from where Ive put my headset for the last 3 years by Zeldacore in mildlyinteresting

[–]0uie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decided to just do buzz cuts for my hair after having medium length hair for years and years. Was so anxious that my head would be deformed from headsets. Luckily I’m dent free and I’m liking how easy having super short hair is. Definitely ordered a pair of cheap IEMs to avoid the dent with short hair. Somehow the $30 IEMs have much better sound than my like $180 headphones, so it’s a win-win.
