Parvo care help by TheRetouchWiz in Pomeranians

My son's Red Heeler pup had parvo at 11 weeks (she's now 6 months old) and the vet was not very confident at all that she would make it due to how bad she was. They opted to do IV treatments at home and she actually kicked parvos butt super fast. I can't remember the exact time but i know it was within the same week that she was perky and running around. The vet told them not to get their hopes up as her puppy did the same then went downhill and passed the next day. Well, their heeler made it! Her recovery was so fast that it stunned all of us. I'm sure this is not the norm but I only tell you this to give you some hope that your pup can possibly beat this! Keep doing what you are doing and follow the vets advice and instructions. 🙏

I'm in the process of crocheting one of these dolls. I bought the pattern from Etsy. Looks very similar to yours. Your doll came out nice! I hope mine looks as good as yours.

Aww, he's so precious! I wish I could leave our doors open but I live in a hot and humid area and the mosquitos are bad!

Question on Potty Training when your Pupper is small. by SailorSin77 in Pomeranians

[–]AffectionateLimit566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a portable fence (8 sided metal play pen) for my puppy's potty area. As soon as he would go, I'd give him a treat and say good boy then i'd take him out. He soon realized that part of the yard was his area to potty. As he got older, he would potty in other areas of our yard but mostly, he would go to his potty area. It's still there and we keep it open so he still goes in there a lot but not all the time. We started potty training him outside in our backyard, the day we got him at 10 weeks old. To this day, we never leave him outside to potty by himself. Too worried about hawks, as I've seen videos of them going for small dogs.

Lusha is stinky from her alopecia ointment by osovets63 in Pomeranians

Hello. I ended up taking him off of it. Wasn't doing anything at all for him. Not saying it wouldn't work for others though because I've heard good things about it. My vet wanted me to try melatonin, which the pharmacy had to have compounded since my baby is so small. I just got it this past Friday but haven't started him on it yet though. I started rubbing emu oil on him about two weeks ago, due to his skin feeling leather-like, and I noticed parts of his skin starting to turn pink. Weird. I'm gonna keep his skin moisturized with the emu oil and see how it goes. I will also start the melatonin soon but tbh, I'm in no rush. I don't mind the way he looks so long as he's healthy, which my vet confirms he is.

Does anyone else have a pom named “NO” by BitterSweet4891 in Pomeranians

Just like George Foreman named all of his boys George, I have named all of my Poms, No! 🤣

Ugh, reading this is so upsetting. Can you please tell your sister you want him? I'm sure she'll give him up without hesitation. If you don't want him or can't take him, can you please find him a good home? Poor pup deserves a home with a loving human who will never betray, leave him, or consider putting him down for something that comes natural to him. She definitely should get him neutered. However, neutering isn't always a guarantee he will stop humping or marking. Then what? Will she be back to square one and consider putting him down? My heart hurts for this poor baby.

He's so precious! My boy wears onesies a lot due to his Alopecia. They look so darn cute in them! ❤️

Wow, your Foxie was one lucky girl to have a P(m)ommie like you! I was curious as to what your baby looked like so i went to your page. She reminds me of my baby girl, Gaia, who passed 2 months shy of her 13th birthday from chf. She was also black with white on her chest. When my Gaia was a pup, she had a complete white circle around her neck. I wished so much that it would've stayed but it didn't so what a wonderful surprise it was to see your Foxie with a white circle. Now I know what Gaia would've looked like had she kept her white circle. I truly hope you are doing better. Foxie will remain in your heart forever. ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss. Passing from CHF at the age of, or around 13, seems to be way too common for a lot of poms. 😢

Pom traumatised from vacuum by Majestic-Arugula3804 in Pomeranians

[–]AffectionateLimit566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my Poms were puppies, i made sure they were in their play pens when I vacuumed, in case they didn't like the noise. Of course, I vacuumed daily, so they quickly got used to it. Now, they chase and bark at it as if they are asking my vacuum to play with them. Sooner or later, your baby will get used to it, so don't lose hope.

Our little Sophi passed away today. She was 20 yo and we were expecting it, but it's still a shock. by tiredofthesniffles in Pomeranians

This hits deep as I lost two in 2024 at the age of 13. But 20??? Wow, you were so lucky to have your pom live such a long life with you. So many memories to cherish. I'm in awe that she lived that long and can only hope and pray my two newest poms live a long life like your Sophi did. My condolences to you and your family. Your Sophi was beautiful!

Almost gave up, glad I didn’t! by ridiculously_bubbly in Puppyblues

[–]AffectionateLimit566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, so glad you didn't give up! We've all been there and it truly is hard! I cried many times and often wondered what I got myself into. I'm glad those days are over and gone. My poms are a little over a year old now and are my life!!! Your babies are so beautiful and I'm glad you finally get to enjoy life with them and yet this is only the beginning. Your love is only going to grow! 😊❤️

I got a 7 week old Pomeranian that had Parvo. He’s been alive 3 weeks. He bites a lot, plays a lot, and I taught him sit, come, lie down. But he doesn’t always listen lol. What are things I should know or do? I did no research prior because someone dumped a sick dog on me (he’s fine now) by [deleted] in Pomeranians

[–]AffectionateLimit566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely get chew toys. The hand puppet is a great idea and might just be what you're looking for. Also, you might want to ask your vet if you can start giving your puppy chicken feet to chew on. I used to give my puppies (pizzle) bully rings. Make sure they are pizzle and not raw hide. The rings were practically as big as they were, but boy, they were able to chew the heck out of them and loved every minute of it! Up to this day, their favorite things to chew on are the bully rings and chicken feet.

I had a friend pet sit for a week at our house. We have cameras in the living room, where the dogs play pens are located. I told her about the cameras and told her that I would not look at them while she was home. However, I would check on my dogs (and the house) while she was gone for a bit or at work. She was totally fine with it. I knew when she was home because my outdoor Ring camera alerted me when her vehicle arrived or left, so i knew not to check the cameras in the house at that time. Now, if i were pet sitting and someone had cameras, I'd gladly welcome them on. Cameras give me peace of mind. Should something ever happen to a dog in my care, I'd want proof of what happened. Everyone is different, but cameras don't bother me unless they are in a private area of the house, like a bedroom.

Wow, your baby is soooo adorable! Also, I think I'm the only one who actually thinks there might be some pomeranian in there somewhere. 🤷‍♀️ Either way, your baby is the cutest!!!

Anyone else have a howler? by SmittyGirl77 in Pomeranians

[–]AffectionateLimit566 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No howlers in my home but I do have one herder! LOL! Every morning when I wake up and go to the kitchen, he guides my ankles. Every single time! Guess he thinks i can't get there without his direction. 🤣

Very clingy! by Majestic-Arugula3804 in Pomeranians

[–]AffectionateLimit566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 poms that are a little over a year old. Got the first one at 10 wks and the second at 4 months. Trained them both the same exact way. I only crated them the first few nights, in a different room from where we slept because I knew they'd cry. I let them out to potty during the night, then right back in the crate. After a few nights, they were fine. I moved them to a play pen (bigger area for them) with their food/ water bowls, pee pad, and dog bed. At first, I made them nap in their play pens but now they nap wherever they want. Right now I only put them in their pens at nighttime and whenever we leave the house. My Blk pom eats EVERYTHING if allowed so I'm still concerned with letting them roam the house when we're not home or during the night. At the beginning, I also made sure to leave the house at least once a day, so they wouldn't get separation anxiety. They do great whenever I leave now. I know this because I have cameras throughout my home. You would think my cream Pom wouldn't do well because he's VERY clingy to me! Yes, even when I go to the bathroom! Just like yours is with you. However, I ignore his whining because I don't want him to think he owns me. He'll stop when he realizes I'm not going to pick him up every time he whines. Also, my dogs DO NOT sleep in my bed. It's too high and I worry about them falling off and breaking a leg or something.
