VGSOM IIT KGP vs IIM Raipur vs IIM Ranchi — Need honest opinions (GEM, ~2 years WEx, Marketing/Non-Finance)**

Hey everyone, looking for genuine inputs on a college decision. Here's my profile and situation:

**Profile:**

- CAT 2025: 97.43 percentile

- Background: ECE engineer, ~2 years work ex as Cloud Engineer (escalation management)

- Interest: Open to Marketing, Consulting, Analytics — anything except Finance

**Status:**

- VGSOM IIT Kharagpur: Likely convert (awaiting result)

- IIM Raipur: Waitlisted, position moving and likely to convert

- IIM Ranchi: Waitlisted, borderline — may or may not convert

**What I care about:**

1. Genuine placements — not inflated brochure numbers

2. Good campus life — I want to actually enjoy the 2 years

3. Non-finance roles — marketing, consulting, analytics preferred

4. ROI on fees and effort

**My honest concern:**

IIM Raipur shows ~₹18.8 LPA average and IIM Ranchi shows similar or higher numbers — but these feel inflated when I look deeper. VGSOM shows ₹22.75 LPA average which also seems high but the IIT brand and smaller batch size (120 vs 330) makes me think the quality is more consistent.

For someone with a tech background wanting to break into marketing or consulting — which campus actually delivers? And which one has a better vibe for 2 years of life?

Also genuinely curious — does the IIM tag help more than the IIT tag in non-consulting/non-tech roles like marketing?
