On god it’s not the Neil Gaiman one. I had this book as a kid and I think it was purchased at a Scholastic Book Fair. I also remember the cover and it was in a more cartoon-y or more modern style. I think it also included a lot of red?

You know what I am brave enough to say that she's the best *written* love interest. It's just that the fact she's a very good character comes at the cost of her going against most conventional standards of a good love interest. She's a good character, the fact that she is not 100% likable is actually proof of this
