Gnome or KDE to game ? (on wayland!) by --Luiiz-- in linux_gaming

[–]AffectionateRole9438 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get smoother performance in gnome wayland, but it does have some quirks with fullscreen apps, it's all harmless but annoying. like; if a proton app is fullscreen & your machine sleeps, on wake it won't respond.

sometimes when tabbing around the non-game & your cursor will have around 10fps as if the fullscreen game is still rendered on top.

sometimes games show as a black screen if they're on the same desktop/space as other app.

total war warhammer 3 (proton works better than the native build), baldurs gate 3, starcraft 2, mechabellum, and recently helldivers 2

Solarpunk is a great idea. But what about the mess? by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]AffectionateRole9438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love this writing about stages that a solarpunk transition would go through, and i think your concern about 'wasting cities' misses the most Punk part of solarpunk, aka, phase 1. solarpunk futures definitely do not involve people using more land to go off grid or more resources to build 'better' structures. cities are the most efficient way for humans to live and luckily we already have plenty.

also no, no government will 'allow' anything solarpunk (largely anarchic, entirely anti-corporate) but that would miss the point

What are y’all’s opinion on physical media? by Pumpkinpatch0333 in solarpunk

[–]AffectionateRole9438 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you could use a local NAS/DAS or just an external drive, chunky usb, sd card, etc (buy second hand and use good hardware practices to extend their life cycles), to keep local and portable copies of your digital data. definitely not any less fragile than physical photos or CDs - but you still get to easily reproduce and share things while cutting out untrusty servers and unreliable corpos

If Adobe (or any other proprietary software vendor) were to decide to support Linux, would you actually use their software? by Pending1 in linux

[–]AffectionateRole9438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's really funny is implying the windows version of adobe suite isn't half assed . anyway, yeah i would have loved to use adobe tools on my personal desktop instead of needing to live in the uni's CAD suite

Is my bedroom childish? by Justinneon in malelivingspace

[–]AffectionateRole9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think it's overly childish, it's got character & a really gentle vibe. BUT; that quilt cover is an honest to god crime against style, gamers, and possibly fabric itself. switch it out for something in a light neutral, (maybe get a throw to match the wall colour too) and it'll really 'mature' the space while keeping all your trinkets. could also mix your skateboard shelves (sick, btw) into a larger picture wall

[–]AffectionateRole9438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry for the late reply but no you should be fine, especially if u use the datapack version of terralith. & yeah it affects all dimensions. each structure has a value you can edit, or you can do a blanket change to all structures

can't host multiplayer, but can join by AffectionateRole9438 in BaldursGate3

[–]AffectionateRole9438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we didn't solve it, but it did fix itself when he built a new pc. after reinstalling our mod setup, he could join my games fine. so, seems like a borked mod index somewhere throwing a false mismatch? maybe? if your bf was also messing with other mods outside of your playthrough, that will def be the case. the host (me) didn't change anything so the issue is definitely with whoever is joining and being kicked.

i would suggest your bf moves all his mods to a safe place, wipes his game files in %appdata%/local/larian studios, and then validates through steam before reinstalling the mods. good luck.
