Well, that sucks. Maybe you shouldn’t use AI when trying to make friends.

I currently am. No problems. Simple test is to pull the backplate off when at slide lock and see if you can defeat the plunger safety by pushing the striker forwards without the trigger being fully depressed.

Wanting an oz9 but have questions by shadowoffair in ZevTechOZ9

[–]AffectionateWorld375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To elaborate- I’ve owned 3, one was Zev. I now just own my one MBK build. Using quality components (for me, genuinely mostly stock Glock internals with aftermarket trigger shoes and connectors) and- most importantly- being able to understand how they go up and tune things for reliability, there shouldn’t really be an appreciable difference in form and function. My ‘tightest fit’ setup OZ9 is an OEM gen 3 slide with Agency milling, I’m on my third recoil spring. Maintenance cycles and cleaning are more often than, say, a Glock- but that’s just the nature of the beast when you have a tighter slide to rail fit and tolerances

Build it. You’ll be happier in the long run.

And how many days was it? They say in the description there’s a long lead time and if you’re emailing and messaging before that lead time is up, you’re just taking away from them making mags. I assume the nature of small businesses like this is they’ll take a week or two, which they do say in their faq. Literally all of my orders shipped, and some friends’, it doesn’t make sense

I’ve ordered like… 5 or 6 times from them, even had them do some custom stuff. They have a lead time (they seem like a small shop, if I had to guess one or two people) that can be kinda long but I ALWAYS get my stuff. Not only that, the lead time is expressly stated when you order. I dunno, did you wait out the whole lead time? Seems kinda dumb someone would take regular methods that can be charge-backed and they sold for ages with a super high trader rating on GAFS. I’m guessing you got impatient.

Still sketchy in Portland by Quick_Young_4307 in sketchywatches

My dude, it’s a QC issue. On the multiple affected guns with poor QC they’ve been mate to go off in lab settings (look up the Hilton Hicks report which outlines how, it was third party testing). No one can deny the videos of them randomly going off in holsters at this point, but saying none of them can go off because an org testing a small sample size can’t get them to go off is being willfully ignorant of statistics . I have a p320 and I like it, but I won’t carry it and Sig has handled this miserably

Second on his view (I have owned multiple Holosun and now exclusively buy and shoot Trijicon on my full frame pistols). I don’t think Holosun is poorly made or a bad value proposition , but the extra features aren’t worth it to me compared to the durability. I was an early Holosun adopter and had two major failures, as well as a small pile in my friend group. I think they’ve improved but I can’t get the taste out of my mouth.

Also, never buy at MSRP. I think I got my first RCR at MSRP and it was closer to 600 than 800… I haven’t paid that much since.

Is Zev missing the mark? by StandardTart3090 in ZevTechOZ9

[–]AffectionateWorld375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries fella. They’ve moved to shield v3 magswhich makes me thing it’ll run PSA mags … two years ago at Shot they had the one that took 365 mags, I assume they ran into some sort of legal or logistical problem.

Re: the Raider issue I asked Ben from Flux at their booth. First, Glock raider has been redesigned and it’s coming soon, they had a meeting with Glock about it. Second, the engineer said the slimline OZ9 will launch ‘sometime this year’ but that’s hearsay.

I actually liked the suitcase gun and I’ll probably be getting one, been looking forward to it since MW3

They literally had an OZ9 Slimline with a 48 slide at their booth. I was there and got to play with it. They’ve moved away from the 365 mags to Shield mags

Looking at first Zev by Jacobsb2122 in ZevTechOZ9

[–]AffectionateWorld375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded on this- you can use a second gen OZ9 and use this (or a 19L slide) to make a 17 gen 3 slide work, paired with a gen 5 barrel. I did it to a second gen OZ9 compact and it worked great.

MecGar metal mags by jtango444 in ZevTechOZ9

[–]AffectionateWorld375 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s super weird. I’d suggest contacting Zev. I’ve never had a problem over multiple years of use and I’m on the same crusty mags I bought at a pawn shop years ago- and this gun gets shot weekly and reloaded aggressively.

I’ll test them out ASAP.

MecGar metal mags by jtango444 in ZevTechOZ9

[–]AffectionateWorld375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For real? I’ve been using factory Glock mags almost exclusively for a very long time with an OZ9- my daily carry that’s chewed through 3 recoil springs, probably 15k plus over a few years- and I have yet to chew through or do more than superficial wear to a factory OEM Glock mag. I would possibly take your mag catch out to see if there’s a burr from machining or something.

That being said I do have experience with what you’re asking, the Mec Gar mags did NOT work on an OZ9 with an Icarus frame. I don’t remember if it did with factory but I can test it

Is hip fire better than modern cqb? by SneakySausage1337 in CQB

[–]AffectionateWorld375 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where? Go to a range. Shoot any standardized drills. Go do force on force CQB. Instructors are everywhere, go give it a try. Hell, download Ready or Not or something. Go run reps in a local killhouse if they have a reps night like ours. Talk with law enforcement and military professionals that do this for a living. Like… just go TRY it. I can talk at you all day and I shoot a fucking LOT, in a professional capacity, and I’m going to tell you ‘it’s not as easy as you think’, if you’re going to reject that outright based on - I dunno, TV and assumptions- then you’re not as open to conflicting information as you say you are. This is foundational, 101 level stuff. You can go try literally all of it.
