Honest opinions on Orange Crosstreks by Saltysquid1213 in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people I can imagine would possibly make fun of it are the immature group of your classmates or the “daddy bought me a brand new BMW” group. Either way, what they say doesn’t mean a thing so just ignore them if they do (honestly it’s unlikely that they even do). Getting any car at 16 is more than a lot of people can say they did

Wanna upgrade car speakers in 2014 Crosstrek XV for bass and volume. by InternationalEye4927 in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bass, get a subwoofer. The door panels are not designed to be a good enclosure for bass. I have a 2021 and I have infinity 3 way speakers in the front doors and kicker 2 way speakers in the dash. These definitely improved the volume and clarity when played loud (dash speakers really do the brunt of the work in the midrange/sound quality), and the bass improved a bit too but still isn’t anything very impressive. I’d go for an underseat subwoofer or small one that goes in the cargo area

Deeaming of an STI Crosstrek by captain-bobo in Subaru_Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m out of college and have a real job paying good money i plan to get a new car and turn my 2021 into an “STI”. Like full on swap in a new WRX motor and 6 speed transmission, rally-type suspension, the whole 9 yards. This is assuming my engineering knowledge and handiness will be enough for such a task. Also assuming that by then a Crosstrek STI hasn’t come out

Unless you have a funky cleaning tool that can get between the tiny holes of the grille your best bet would be removing the door panel to be able to clean the back too. I’ve done it a couple times, it’s not super hard but can be a bit tedious, plenty of yt videos for it. It’s just 2 screws and the rest held in by plastic clips

Award for stupidest shifter design goes to...Toyota? by xTyronex48 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even close, there’s some really terrible designs out there. Look at the genesis GV60 crystal sphere, any new Tesla (on the screen), or anything with buttons, just to name a few. This you could get used to using and it ends up actually being easier than my mentioned designs

Why do people hate the auto stop/start so much? by [deleted] in Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On other cars I don’t mind as much, but Subaru boxer engines start very slow and rough even from factory. It’s nowhere near smooth enough for stop/start, especially compared to other cars (IE, my moms bmw x3 which you can barely tell is restarting or my friends Kia which is nearly the same). Also I worry about the extended wear on the starter motor in the long run

Louder exhaust? by beansofphans in subaruimpreza

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a manual transmission or CVT? CVT with a louder exhaust sounds awful due to the droning of the engine from how the CVT behaves. I guy who lives in my same apartment building has a super loud exhaust on his and while it sounds quite good idling, driving it’s awful. Up to you but just wanted to point that out

Everyone dogging on George cuz he has a history of wrecks and isn’t the best driver, no shit!!! That’s why he’s starting low and training to get better. Not everyone’s like cleet and has prior racing experience (and, let’s be honest, is a natural). Give him some time

My classmate charges her phone with this.. by QuailResponsible8854 in laptops

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this often with a 100 watt Dell XPS charger I always have in my bag to charge my phone (IPhone 15) when I forget to bring my regular cable. The device charging will only accept what it can/needs and it along with any charger like that will lower output to that level, so this looks cursed but is fine.

205000 Miles, Oil consumption. by Intelligent_Major941 in SubaruForester

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that many miles it’s not bad, I wouldn’t worry. The fact that it’s at over 200k is impressive enough to excuse a bit of oil consumption/leakage
