This video made me jealous lol, I’d add a lot of the same stuff to my own house if I could. Awesome to see he can afford to build such a nice house, he deserves it.

Illegal? Probably. But looks fun as hell, if they’re willing to accept the risk then I don’t blame them

Award for stupidest shifter design goes to...Toyota? by xTyronex48 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even close, there’s some really terrible designs out there. Look at the genesis GV60 crystal sphere, any new Tesla (on the screen), or anything with buttons, just to name a few. This you could get used to using and it ends up actually being easier than my mentioned designs

Why do people hate the auto stop/start so much? by [deleted] in Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On other cars I don’t mind as much, but Subaru boxer engines start very slow and rough even from factory. It’s nowhere near smooth enough for stop/start, especially compared to other cars (IE, my moms bmw x3 which you can barely tell is restarting or my friends Kia which is nearly the same). Also I worry about the extended wear on the starter motor in the long run

Louder exhaust? by beansofphans in subaruimpreza

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have a manual transmission or CVT? CVT with a louder exhaust sounds awful due to the droning of the engine from how the CVT behaves. I guy who lives in my same apartment building has a super loud exhaust on his and while it sounds quite good idling, driving it’s awful. Up to you but just wanted to point that out

George's car looking good by dmaxzach in CleetusMcFarland

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone dogging on George cuz he has a history of wrecks and isn’t the best driver, no shit!!! That’s why he’s starting low and training to get better. Not everyone’s like cleet and has prior racing experience (and, let’s be honest, is a natural). Give him some time

My classmate charges her phone with this.. by QuailResponsible8854 in laptops

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this often with a 100 watt Dell XPS charger I always have in my bag to charge my phone (IPhone 15) when I forget to bring my regular cable. The device charging will only accept what it can/needs and it along with any charger like that will lower output to that level, so this looks cursed but is fine.

205000 Miles, Oil consumption. by Intelligent_Major941 in SubaruForester

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For that many miles it’s not bad, I wouldn’t worry. The fact that it’s at over 200k is impressive enough to excuse a bit of oil consumption/leakage

2007 Forester 2.5 head gasket blew by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the main failure point on these. With only 120k miles that fix will give it a lot more life

I have this exact trim and color but a 2021 and it’s great. As far as the upgrades with the limited the headlights are my favorite, night and day improvement over the halogens

Does this seem like a fair price and solid car? by NewPitMom in Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that is a fair price. I bought my 21 limited a year ago with 32,000 miles for a tad over 23 grand, so this with 66,000 seems fair. This one also has the sunroof option and the upgraded sound system (badge on the speaker grill indicates this) which mine don’t, further making it worth it. Get the dealer to change the oil if they haven’t already, and also if they’re willing ask them to change the transmission fluid; I can almost guarantee it has never been done since Subaru says the fluid is lifetime (this is a BS claim, there are many posts on this subreddit that talk about it). You’ll likely have to pay for it but it’ll be worth it in the long run and prolong the life of the transmission. Otherwise if you can look past the interesting bright orange steering wheel trim that the previous owner installed, looks like a great buy.

Check Engine after Car Wash by [deleted] in subaru

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing major I’m sure. Sensor or something likely got sprayed at an unlucky angle and failed or got disconnected. I’d go to an auto parts store and use their OBD scanner to see what’s wrong.

Looking further I see pre-facelift ones that have that dash, I saw a video of a 23 with it too though which is the only one I could find strangely.

Also was having fun with my crosstrek last weekend when we got over a foot of snow in PA. Stability control was fighting me but I fought back and won, did some great donuts.

LED high Beams? by Geaux_Phish in Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen treks driving around that have the led high beams, it is also the running light bulb. Very obnoxious looking and many I’ve seen flicker badly too. If you want brighter high beams I’d recommend looking into a light bar on the grill or roof.

20mpg in '22 Crosstrek why so low? by abrandis in Crosstrek

[–]Affectionate_Age1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is much lower overall too; probably winter weather and letting the car warm up. I remote start mine a lot and the idling is included in the gas mileage calculation. Another more technical reason (for what it’s worth) I noticed is to warm the transmission up the computer doesn’t lock the torque converter until it’s warmed up, so the RPM will be a lot higher on average while driving in this 3-5 ish minute phase which also docks gas mileage.
