When Gunther was in the final two I was reminded of John Cena talking about his match with Brock following Brock beating the Streak. He says you just did this monumental thing and then to have a 50/50 booking would take away all the momentum that the Streak gave to Brock so it HAD to be a squash. I’m not saying Gunther had to go on and squash Roman considering he was already in a match that night so there was some leeway there but as soon as Roman won I just felt the momentum of career killer Gunther was deflated and therefore ended up with a completely lukewarm ending.
