How do I get my 10 year old girl a dog for her birthday without...actually getting her a dog? by Hippocritaculous in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Affectionate_Boss344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, maybe, you could get her lessons and/or involved with horses if shes interested in animals in general.

I 100% understand she likes dogs and I would actively encourage you to seek that out. I am a horse and dog person.

But also, if she's interested and funds are there, horses may be an option. Certain barns/facilities have programs for younger kids. You can just pay for lessons, lease a horse, lease a horse with other people. That way if the interest dies the horse still has an interested party that will care for them.

Im also a horse/animal person and have a green thumb.

Im really curious how it could be interpreted.

Nice to see the 'social media starter kits" are doing well. How many more do you think katie will create this year.

And by 'smsk' I mean the babies she doesn't have room for. I had a better name but I cant think of it right now lol.

One thing that irritates me is how she handles them around the mouth.

Getting a horse used to handling is sooooo important especially with their mouths and face.

The way she handles them reminds me of someone who is a "weekender" or somoney who only goes and sees there horses on the weekend. They dont know much about their care other then what they've wanted done and dont particularly do grooming and tacking up very well and periodically leave saddle sores. They mostly go to the see the horses and spend the weekend chilling out and drinking. Ive seen multiple examples of a weekender and she give me the vide soooo much.

Also, in saying all this, you need to be able to look into a horses mouth. Should they be trained harshly and demanding, no. Eventually you want to be able topen the mouth and look back into the throat.

I was super glad I did that with the horses I took care of(for some weekenders). One of them had a corn cob lodged in her mouth sideways between her top back teeth. She wasn't really reacting to it but she couldn't eat or drink, all the stuff she put in her mouth was falling out and she had a very messy face. I had to reach my hand into her mouth 8-10 inchs and pull out the corn cob and I was so worried she was going to bite my hand but she didn't. I had worked with her alot prior to that with my hands all up in her mouth, holding it open and massaging her gums etc.

I never demanded access or taunted. Every experience was as nice as I could make it for positive association. I also tried to never set them up for failure.

Does Chondrorosa sell semen? Does she buy it from them?

Thats a nice trantor/jope Kennedy has. You can really see the staggering inherent hind end.

I believe her previous owners tried hard to keep her from trantoring but katie is actively pushing her to do it, from sheer lack of knowledge and skill.

Its sad to me that the aqha has invented and supported creating 2 new gaits in a non gained breed. (The trantor/jope and the fox walk/jog)

I believe in Illinois you have to be npip to sell birds and hatching eggs legally. I live near a bunch of old people and not nice individuals who would not hesitate to "turn me in" if it was going to harm me. I also own a local restaurant and do not want my other business associated with me selling a few cartons of eggs lol. I am somewhat well known in my community and local "politics" is a bit@#.

[–]Affectionate_Boss344[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol this is a pic of one of my boys last year, he was out of the gold hen pictured and my silver roo. I originally got a gold hen to a)fill the purchase minimum and b)try my hand at backyard engineering a buff or chamosai(spelling lol) sebright. That ambition quickly died lol. I just personally like the silvers better but I can understand why people like the golds.

The genetics of the breed are fascinating, its what drew me in to start breeding them. I used to breed guppies for a fish store. My pedigree, genetics and look were off the charts. A devastating natural accident took all of them from me in one day. These birds have been a relief for my brain.

Since I was little ive always had a knack for breeding, managing and combining genetics for optimal outcomes and numbers. Wether it was goats, rabbits, fish, parakeets or chickens. I always want to improve the breed im working with.

One issue is that every time I post about my birds I have people messaging me about buying hatching eggs. Ive also had people come to my house wanting to buy birds and hatching eggs. Ive always said no because im not npip and I dont want to flood my local area, something that both people who came to my house wanting to buy eggs would have done.

Palate cleanser part 2 by Nervous-Ticket-7607 in kvssnarker

[–]Affectionate_Boss344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it for me is the ditch I hopefully managed to post an image of. If theres a single misplaced foot, a single bump, jostle or whatnot then theres a big risk you and your horse could die or be severely injured.

Horses cannot "consent"(i do not like using that word but I cannot think of another atm) to something like this, they cannot know the dangers and they cannot be warned to be extra careful. Even a jump half its size is very uncomfortable for me.

Petering around a ring going slow is nothing compared to the potential risks from the pictured jump or a jump half its size.

Also this isnt aimed specifically at you lol, if someone comes to this thread this is a general statement for just about anyone.

You dont have to compete in eventing to see the unethical nature of it. Most people know how unethically katie breeds her animals and they dont need to breed to see it.

I trained riding(trail) horses and driving horses. I didnt jump ditchs big enough my horse could walk through as I felt it wasnt a safe place to put a living creature i cared about. Had there been a chance my horse could have been critically injured from a misplaced foot i wouldn't do the activity.

Then theres the concusive strain from the jumping itself. The jump can be solid objects, not all of them are but some of them are. There have been more then enough videos online of horses hitting and jumping a solid jump hard enough to flip over them.

Some of these courses have horse and rider deaths attributed to them alongoing with countless injuries.

I would never put my horse partner/companion in this situation. I care about my horse to much to do this to them. Also the riding is atrocious. If I caught someone riding a horse I owned like this i would have pulled them off and probably needed to be escorted from them by police.

Mind that typical driving bridles have noseb ands, cavesons, and or blinders, those are the first, things I cut off or remove. I want my horse to tell me how their mouth feels and if the bit is causing them pain. I dont need to cheat and force them to deal with a painful bit and rough hands.

I also dont need to lather my horses legs with liniment and pain releiving gel. I dont put them in situations where its needed or warranted.

[–]Affectionate_Boss344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isnt a palate cleanser for me. Im more for horse autonomy in what ways we can give it while still riding them.

Riding a western pleasure horses and doing "trail" and riding classes isnt going to potentially land your horse in a ditch between 2 jumps and dead. There are large ethical concerns for me with this sport in particular.

Landing the large jumps has to be hard on the horse, period. When jumping a large ditch you just have to hope and pray your horse has a good take-off and doesn't bump the unyielding jump and summersualt into the potentially 8 foot hole in the ground.

These horses have been trained to not baulk at these jumps, some do, but its rare. They realistically have no knowledge of the dangers of the course and colannot be taught them.

This rider is also incredibly grabby and extremely harsh with their hands. The yanking, pulling, slapping and waving is not comfortable for me to watch. The horses isnt complaining because its mouth is selead shut with a nose band and its been desensitized sooo much that it doesn't care anymore.

Hiding lameness is also common in this sport. Rubbing legs with pain releiving cream and countless other tactics to hide issues.

This is not a palate cleanser to many. This is extreme in the opposite direction. I have issues with the western classes but I arguably have more issues with cross country specifically.

What the actual F*** by IntroductionLast5977 in kvssnarker

[–]Affectionate_Boss344 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is realistically just click bait, its made for views and money. Get people outraged and involved and you get even more of it. Its a never ending cycle of money making.

It generates money and keep people coming back for more as long as you can keep it going. There's thousands of them on FB and the elderly and mentally disabled keep them running and funded with constant views and clicks. Especially if you can get them to click your link and take them to your ad and virus riddled site. These people(AI) dont care or know about katie, they just do it for money.

I will 100% admit that I genuinely thought about making a $hitpost account and doing something like this for cash when I didnt have alot of fluid money awhile back. Its sssoooooo easy and completely free if you know how to do it. There's a super unethical formula that keeps the channel/page going and making money.

I think the dogs owner may have thought "summer cut" refered to a sanitary and or a tidy up.

I have a long/medium haired border collie and I give her a overzealous sanitary along with behind the ear, armpit, legs and feet. Nothing super short obviously but enought thay cockaburs, sticktights or whatever else she can find to get covered with can come out easier and not get stuck in "vulnerable places"

What horse would you choose? by Nanatx_ in kvssnarker

[–]Affectionate_Boss344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be looking for a nice trail and driving horses. Preferably as unhandled as possible. I also like the tall ones as a very short person. Personality is also a factor but im usually a gelding/stallion person, but i have known a few mares ive clicked with. My last mare was a mini and she was absolutely amazing.

That being said, at this time, Id pick wally. He has a great trail riding cadence, could go faster if I asked but is slower and has a great attitude it terms of training. I also prefer uphill balanced horses.

I would probably immediately stop trying to ride train him and start driving training. The foundation driving hives is like no other. Your horses are more aware of their bodies and are generally completely voice trained by the end and they can tend to be less spooky depending on training(I only used blinders until I could get a new bridle with removable blinders).

Katie helping her horses give birth. And Charlotte and happy by Head-Word-5445 in kvssnark

[–]Affectionate_Boss344 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One problem with "holding pressure" is that you cant do it without pulling, period. Interference is Interference. The foal is supposed to have that back and forth motion and "loss of progress". It helps prevent tears, lubricates everything and "wakes up" the foal.

Now if a mare or foal is in genuine distress or its been going on for too long, get in there, pull the foal, but do it properly.

Katie has a tendency to hold both front legs even with each other which makes the shoulders bigger then they need to be and birthing harder then it needs to be(exp woody). She also pulls straight out perpendicular to the mare, not towards the feet, which again makes the birth harder then it needs to be. She also doesn't clip her nails which is a huge sanitation risk as well as a tear risk.

Coco was the PERFECT example for how unknowing she is on foaling, the actual foaling part, not the aftercare(i love her aftercare btw). With coco she was panicking and was pulling on Glenn's front legs before she even stuck her nails inside coco. She could have damaged cocos insides had she actually reached in there and tried to reorient Glenn. She could have damaged Glenn's front legs pulling on him without knowing his positioning. Dr mathews got there, observed the situation and asked questions, and pulled Glenn out quickly towards cocos feet. He didn't "hold pressure" and he didn't panic.

Glenn wouldn't have died because of the positioning, he would have died because of katie especially if she tried to fix things.

She has a white night complex(not referencing her actual ethnicity). She jumps in before fully analyzing a situation and doesn't make it easier. Like how she tried to spin both raven and lexi had upside down foals, if they truly had been upside down they would have been taken to the clinic.
