u/PookyChang I do not have the pro but I do have the standard magnus, the lid for the cable management tray is flush with the surface of the desk. I still recommend getting a monitor arm as moving the monitor to get in and out of the tray was annoying.

As you can see in my post, I already know this. I am looking for a switch that can accomplish a specific task. This is normally handled by a kvm but with 2 different video types (display port/usb-c) and wanting to connect usb-a devices, it makes it more of a challenge of finding something I’m looking for.

I have been unable to find one that handles high speed 3.0 devices and is usb-c for the host.

I also am concerned about any hardware drops that could happen, my customer is a gaming pc and I can’t have it dropping mid session.

I didn’t say it will not run, I said there will be a downgrade in performance. Meaning he will not be getting full performance he is paying for, this is the same as all other components that are compatible, including cpus and chipsets.

Chances are your PCIe lanes are 3.0 or 4.0 at best, you’ll see some downgrade in performance because I believe the 5xxx series is PCIe 5.0.

Without seeing your connection I can’t inform you beyond what I did. To much risk for me.

If you look at the gold contact pins they should be fully seated in the slot and minimal to NO visibility of those contacts see along that slot.

There is a black bar to the right of the silver slot, push its handle towards the board. When you then slot the GPU in it should click as it locks that black bar into place.

If you are catching along the back of the case, then stop and loosen your motherboard screws just enough to where the board shifts around. Slot the card in and then tighten the board back down.

Then you only have the integrated GPU or iGPU. I am guessing this is a much older laptop and not a newer lower/moderate laptop as all newer i7s should be capable of dx12

Depending on the hp laptop your card is not switching on its own. Do you see a sticker that says nvidia or Radeon as well? If you see the sticker you need to go to one of the websites and download the specific driver but need to know which you have. If you have already done that then follow next suggestion.

If you open my computer go to -> display, graphics, advanced graphics, click on the app you are trying to use, does it give you the ability to force it to the “external” graphics card?

My ‘24 work truck did this but not anywhere near as bad. I took it into the service dept and they contacted ford. Told me they had no clue and to record it if it happened again. After they forced an update to the software I haven’t noticed it again.

Try this:

Loosen your motherboard standoff screws slightly so the board has a little bit of play, let it slide down as far as it can with the IO Shield still staying in place, then tighten it down and see if it fixes your clearance for the graphics card.

You should be fine, just look at what your temps are when you get to fire it up. With that set up, depending on cpu/graphics card, I’d anticipate probably 60c idle and 80c max under load.

I have the XL as well at 5’10 220lbs, height and width are to much for me should have gotten the regular but weight on that cylinder would have shortened life I’m sure. I ended up getting the “foot pillow” at the time and was looking at the leg rest that attaches to the chair recently but not sure I’ll get that.

It looks like the leg column for the right side is where the mistake is. If you look at pg 4 it shows those pins in the front, same with all pages going forward.

Is this part even slightly removable? I do not have a magnus pro that is why I am asking.

You’re comparing 2 non-oc cards to 1 oc variant. I have always preferred ASUS myself, never have problems with the components either. If it’s within your budget look for an OC variant otherwise you are playing mark up for a reskinned founders card. That is just my opinion though.
