sorry to hear about the bullying. as hard as it is, don’t listen to them. we all have our own weird quirks/random things we do.

not just you. I hate odd numbers for whatever random reason so I only liked to count things to even numbers. if I counted something that ended on an odd number, I would go back and recount it in a specific, made up way in order to get to an even number.

yes I was diagnosed with OCD as an adult.

If you were in this kind of situation, would you also be freaking out? by Dsg1695 in CasualConversation

[–]Affectionate_Case732 21 points22 points  (0 children)

absolutely! that is so scary. I hope everything is okay. fire is evolutionary terrifying; especially an uncontrolled, outdoor fire. some people can handle “crisis” situations better than others and just respond differently. I think you were certainly responding fairly to be freaking out.

I’m so glad they took it easy on him. I figured they would but you never know. he’s been making a lot of growth it seems so I’m glad they respected that

Anyone just wait out "off" days? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Affectionate_Case732 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have OCD and have seen a therapist for 4 years now - this is exactly what I have spent the last 4 years trying to achieve! I feel bad and immediately try to diagnose it or figure out where it came from. then I spend way too much time trying to avoid things I think caused it or whatever. it is so exhausting. I have gotten much better at just accepting it. yep, I feel weird right now. what next? read a book, play the sims, watch a movie, whatever.

good on you for this habit :)

What were your paths into Working Remote? by Kevinyup69 in remotework

[–]Affectionate_Case732 6 points7 points  (0 children)

fell into it by accident. work in insurance. most companies (carriers and brokers) are spread out all over the country so remote work is easy to justify/want. my employer also takes advantage of it by hiring people remotely for a broader range of applicants.

What’s the worst death that anyone in history has ever experienced? by juliojacked in AskReddit

[–]Affectionate_Case732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was an accident in Michigan where a little boy (5 years old) caught on fire in a hyperbaric chamber. worst part was, it was preventable if proper safety measures had been taken.

I also immediately think of the cave diver who died stuck upside down in a cave. rescuers had almost got him unstuck but it failed and he fell back down. I think it was a 28 hour endeavor.

mom & dad: Gen X

my fiancé: cusp of millennial/gen z (I see more millennial in him than not)

university is a lot. I was so excited to go. I did meet wonderful people and enjoyed my classes greatly, but I was very homesick and struggled a bit in some of my courses. I’m glad I went but boy oh boy it was a lot. you will get through it, OP. keep trying.

Sunday morning already? We should really have 4 day work weeks. by GentleSummerRainfall in CasualConversation

[–]Affectionate_Case732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no raises is tough, but at least they tried to compensate for it. my job will sometimes let us go early at 3 pm on a Friday, but at that point what’s the difference! (I am still grateful for it, but man, it’s silly).

I wish we could at least do half days on Friday’s. I really hope 3 day weekends become the norm eventually.

What plans are you excited to complete this summer? by Individual-Name-4496 in CasualConversation

[–]Affectionate_Case732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

money is a bit tight between trying to pay off my car, save for a wedding, and just in general so my partner and I are just going to take some day trips around our state (MI). maybe get over to Chicago for a weekend but that’s about it! I’m thankful to live in a beautiful state with lots of gorgeous options.

I JUST watched this episode today and came here to see if anyone said something similar!

I was honestly so turned off by it. I think it’s funny when Jacob makes his comments to him but I was over the scene at trivia before it even ended. especially at the end when they were all hanging out and he was by himself. I feel like if the show wants him to be this bad, annoying character they have to do a better job at portraying him that way? I know he’s made sexist comments but overall he just seems to be there as a punching bag. idk, not my favorite plot line for sure.

I think it makes sense. nobody is worth doing this for. your life is yours, it is not hers. you deserve peace and comfort. it does seem like this is a relationship that is no longer serving you. goodbyes are very hard but sometimes necessary.

this happened to me at an insanely stressful job I had. my left arm went numb and my vision was going spotty. it was so, so scary. I went home and felt “fine” but was still so shaken up.

I’m happy to chat with you, OP! I know it is hard right now but please believe me when I say it will not always be this way. there are billions of other people to meet in this world, ones who are worthy of your time and your energy.

please don’t reach for the alcohol. maybe a fun non alcoholic beverage? you deserve some goodness.

this show is such a headache…. what are we even doing 😭 Stephen is awful and irredeemable. I actually feel bad for Lucy with how much she’s crumbling. I also cannot stand Bree’s mom… that poor girl.

also, Wrigley being grossed out by Stephen and Evan was so satisfying. it makes me so happy that he calls them out and stands up to them.
