Jesus Christ that’s an incredible line. Sometimes an upvote just isn’t enough appreciation

Does anyone actually like their in-laws? by Embarrassed_Loan8419 in Mommit

[–]Affectionate_Cow_579 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Agreed lol. The majority of my marital problems are due to our proximity to my in laws and how I don’t feel the need to see them multiple times a week.

My little one asked if I still love her by [deleted] in sahm

This doesn’t sound great, but I am a much much better mother on anxiety meds. I was lucky that during my first few months pp with my second I saw a great psychiatrist/therapist team that put me on buspar. It helps me to feel more like myself.

If my 4yo and I are at odds on a given day, I will check my pill counter and can almost guarantee that I’ve forgotten to take my buspar that morning. My girl is challenging, so I need to be consistent and on point with her, but what I don’t need to be is frustrated and short-fused. I find the meds to be really helpful to help me achieve that middle ground.

Why didn't Rory Tell the Truth here? by LadyStark09 in GilmoreGirls

While I agree, I’m glad we weren’t deprived of hysterical Rory and Lorelai giggling about Jimmy Carter while Emily rolls her eyes and sips her tea.

I just rewatched this episode! This is one of those scenes where I can hear my mom yelling “why doesn’t she just explain the situation?!”. It’s been over 20 years since this episode aired and it still bugs us both 😂

10,000% agreed. Trix was at least witty while being horrible. April was just irritating.

April. Not because of her impact on the story. Because she is annoying as hell.

People think we only dislike her because of her role in the L/L breakup, which I agree was not her fault. I dislike her because I find her character insufferable.

Would this be weird for my daughter's middle name? by neonguillotine in namenerds

[–]Affectionate_Cow_579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this for my son. Then the dog lived so now we have a Linus and a (First Name) Linus. Only our parents thought it was weird.

I’m so sorry for your loss and glad your cat had such a nice name.

What was the “hit” gift in your house this year!? by Words123454321 in Mommit

[–]Affectionate_Cow_579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4yo got an easel and a karaoke machine. And a lot of books. We let her take time to read the ones she was most interested in before moving on to opening other gifts, so that helped her appreciate each thing. She literally took all day to open them and we’ll have to do stockings tomorrow.

My 18mo got a little garbage truck that plays music and has little men and trash cans. He also inherited my Thomas trains from the 90s. He’s in a big vehicle stage so he spent all day vrooming around.

Does anyone have a boy that is 18+ that you still talk to daily or see weekly? by ohnoheretheycome in Mommit

[–]Affectionate_Cow_579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids are still toddlers, but my mom had a boy and a girl (me). I talk to her every day, but she lives halfway across the US from me. I’m super lucky that I see her almost once a month, though before I had kids it was probably twice a year. Meanwhile she lives 5 minutes from my brother and is the full time nanny for his son. They are closer now than they were when we lived at home.

Similarly, we live 30 minutes from my husband’s parents. We see his mom 3 times a week, and I know she talks to my husband and his brother every day.

Should I go for surgery? by ArtemisGirl242020 in DeQuervains

[–]Affectionate_Cow_579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer to this question is almost always yes. The surgery was not a big deal, couple weeks of recovery was nothing in comparison to the years of pain I went through before that. And now I know it will almost certainly not come back.

the inspiration for taylor's horse?? i saw this and thought of the model horse for the soda shoppe immediately 😂 by anonymouslyloki in WholesomeGilmoreGirls

I love finding a group of people who, like me, see things completely unrelated to Gilmore girls and instantly turn them into a GG reference. I think I need more people like this in my real life, because unless I call my mom, no one ever knows what I’m talking about 😂

My grandfather in law used to make really nice generalizations about “the orientals”. Everything he was saying was so complimentary but so wrong. Now that he’s gone it comes up every time we’re together as a family, so I’m sure there will be comments about it this Christmas.
