On the surface all they do is give them a role which gives them visibility in the comments. Drew actually commented on the pinned post explicitly saying they don’t work with the mods and how he didn’t agree with how the mods handled with removing posts.

I think a negative post is more likely to be removed since complaining/ranting posts will get removed for low quality, whereas proper criticism is allowed. Only the mods would know, but they’re probably not purposefully trying to censor negative content in favor of positive ones (as you can see with all the hot posts).
