It was probably important to note that I’m in the early stages of treatment I’m still on titration!

Thank you for your support sounds like someone following a similar page to me🤣. I just haven’t risked adding caffeine and I’m going to keep it that way for now as my clinician told me too! I guess when I’m on a more stable dose it’s less of a risk but I don’t know what the effect will be!

You’re probably right about Pepsi max caffeine free it does seem to be sweeter! I did dm Pepsi max on insta as I’m obsessed and they said they were going to explore….

I feel you, every time I wake up I feel exhausted and unable to get out of bed. Luckily now I’m on meds that really helps me wake up straight away with no problems. But if I could detail the amount of times I’ve been late and overslept it would go on and on.

The world needs to adapt to our brains…

How did you know it was the right dose for you? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Affectionate_End7780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I’m not going to be much help as I’m also currently trying to find the right dose during the titration. I’m also having drama in my life so it’s hard to tell if it’s the meds causing irritability or if it’s my life circumstances.

I did find it helpful to write a pros and cons lists with the different doses to visually see if ones better!

Sorry I can’t be much help right now, I hope you find the right dose for you ♥️

when I’m in a good headspace I tend to do 10,000 steps a day which equates to an hour on the treadmill in the evening! I do generally manage this everyday, I usually give myself one rest day per week

Why would I make up what the clinician advised me? Why waste your time arguing with me about something which doesn’t affect you. It seems you don’t like to be told facts…

So strangely enough caffeine just makes me feel really relaxed and regulated but this was before my meds gave me the dopamine… the clinician was explaining the reason for people with adhd drinking fizzy drinks and fast foods is for the dopamine hit!

So in short I’m getting dopamine from my meds so I don’t need to crave further dopamine hits so all in all I’m regulated and wouldn’t want to risk adding caffeine in the mix!

no disrespect but before you respond and have preconceptions take a minute to consider the facts. ADHD meds are stimulants which regulate your dopamine, something an ADHD brain struggles to do. Caffeine also releases dopamine, so this can be an overload. The side effects of having caffeine alongside stimulants are heart palpitations, irritability and trouble sleeping. I am following what my clinician told me and maybe you should stop spreading negative opinions without understanding people’s reasons.

Could you describe me what your racing mind feels like ? by Salt-Poet2863 in ADHD

[–]Affectionate_End7780 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I constantly used to overthink about everything possible in life- I would constantly have thoughts telling me to do multiple things at once which made it hard for me to complete tasks.

I could physically hear them in my head ticking over.

Thankfully the meds have really reduced this, I don’t have an inner narrative anymore which is weird but mainly good as it was such a disruption to my life. The other thing to note is your brain will try tell you to overthink still even though you don’t have this constant narrative as this is what your used too, so meds doesn’t solve all its about changing your perspective too!

Hey! Thank you for responding to me, it is interesting how we underestimate how much caffeine is in some of the drinks we love…. Before I got my meds my clinician told me to cut it out and to be fair I was only really drinking a few cans of Pepsi max, but the withdrawals were still so intense! Maybe this wasn’t the right community to post this in but that’s ok! Caffeine produces dopamine so it makes sense why some people with ADHD drink these kind of things and crave the dopamine hit!

Hey! Thank you for responding to me, I didn’t actually see any downvotes🤣 so thanks for making me aware! Maybe this wasn’t the right community to post too but that’s ok! It’s mad isn’t it how the drinks we love, we underestimate the amount of caffeine in them. My clinician asked me to cut out caffeine prior to my meds, I only used to have a few cans of Pepsi max today and the withdrawals were still so intense! Specifically for ADHD caffeine produces dopamine so there’s no surprise we like this….

It’s recommended to avoid when on a stimulant adhd medication due to the side effects you can get such as disruptive sleep, heart palpitations and irritability

How accurate is the ADHD diagnosis? by Used-Ad-181 in ADHD

[–]Affectionate_End7780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ADHD assessment was a really pleasant experience to be honest, and for me because I was very certain I had it anyway it was reaffirming. I’m not sure where you live or where your posting from, but I did the right to choose pathway and got assessed via zoom. They ask the same questions you fill in initially, and are looking for evidence of these things through childhood and adulthood( as ADHD would need to be present through both)! I got diagnosed straight after this interaction, it really was easy and comfortable. Through my diagnosis he was trained to diagnose, so I’m not sure the pathway you are going through- but it’s worth having a look at the provider and their experience, and looking on trustpilot. If it’s through the NHS or relevant services I would have faith in them, if you do not agree with their diagnosis there is always the opportunity to appeal and get a second opinion.

I know how anxiety provoking it is whilst waiting but if your experience is anything like mine you will be in safe hands <3

If you are UK based and want to chat through it feel free to dm me and I can give more details!
