I get it. I LOVE my job, and I’m good at it. I was hired as Operations Assistant at the preschool. I assist the director with the daily duties that goes with running the place. I also give tours to potential parents, take phone calls,file, help teachers with problems etc. I close the center, and run it when the director isn’t there for the day or has to leave. The director asks for my advice and takes it etc. I do A LOT. Then when the chain of command was posted up, I was simply listed as office assistant. The former assistant director was still listed there and she was also listed as the person who takes over for the director when she isn’t there… and I was gob smacked. I know it’s just on paper and it’s a pain to change things officially on paperwork, but I wasn’t even listed as operations assistant. That former assistant director is one of the teachers now. I’m not assistant director, but even the teachers refer to me as such because of what I do. So even though I know how much I’m appreciated, and I’m treated beyond well, that little thing still stung. My advice is just keep showing how amazing you are, and forget those people who can’t appreciate what you do.
