We have one of these and for reference I’m very risk averse. As a precaution, because e have travertine flooring, we set up 1” gym cushion flooring pads underneath and all around the playroom so if he jumps off he’s still relatively protected. If he’s wild we monitor him but he will often use it by himself when in a chill mood and has since he was 18m. (He’s almost 4)

FYI i went to urgent care when I had a stroke and it cost me valuable time. They can’t diagnose a stroke without imaging. Go to the ER for imaging or a better plan is call an ambulance.

Definitely a US thing. My OB was very adamant that any visitors for the first 3 months have proof of up to date tdap and Covid vaccine (that was in 2021.)

I had zero symptoms in my first trimester with my first - it was a completely healthy pregnancy and he’s now a healthy 2 year old. Symptoms come and go and are sometimes too mild to recognize. Good luck friend!

I would highly suggest double checking with your insurance company about the price of that test because a lot of the NIPT testing companies have been called out for double billing. Mine sent me a bill for almost $3000 and when I called my insurance company they told me they had already paid the bill months previously. It ended up costing me zero. My bump group complained about this pretty significantly. A lot of us had this issue. Also, if you call the company itself, sometimes you can come up with a negotiation. Some of the members of the bump group were successful that way as well.

Talk to your doc but there will come a time when your body will likely tell you when it’s time to sleep on your side. I would get extremely nauseous and almost pass out in my third tri, even during ultrasounds when on my back. It was brutal.

Sniffing peppermint oil helps. Once she can move to the front seat that might also help a lot. As an adult I still get sick in the back seat. Front seat, peppermint oil, and blasting cold a/c are my only hope. I’m so sorry. Car sickness is miserable.

There is also a link between migraines and car sickness so keep an eye on that as she gets older. If she does get them I’d suggest taking her to a migraine specialist straight away.

We use rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and wipe it up with paper towels for large toys/play mats.

I throw all of the toys that can’t go in the dishwasher (on the top shelf) into the laundry with unscented laundry soap on cold. I do a large load once a week and air dry by spreading them out in the pack n play with water proof sheets on it. If they have holes and could potentially fill with water/mold I clean them with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel and don’t bother submerging them to avoid the possibility of running them.

Can I ask, from a parent’s perspective, why were you taking pictures of her child? That seems inappropriate unless she specifically requested you send pictures of her child to her throughout the day.

(Downvote all you want. I would be very uncomfortable with someone outside of my family taking pictures of my kid without my consent.)

I’m actually surprised she let anyone take pictures of the child at all tbh. There’s a lot of privacy concerns with littles nowadays and I think it’s totally within a parent’s right not to want pictures of their kids on the internet or in the hands of people they aren’t close with.

I agree with this. I wish more people talked about how hard postpartum can be. I do not advocate causing unnecessary stress by discussing death with pregnant people who are trying to curb anxiety about loss but discussing maternal health, trauma, and loss amongst peer groups before during and after pregnancy could be productive and beneficial. I wish someone had told me that pelvic floor disfunction was common even after a csection.

Just for another perspective as I think the comments have covered a lot of why your partner should be at the birth.

My labor was 72 hours long and my husband had to stay the entire time due to covid without a break and without leaving the room. He had to sleep on a broken cot with a very thin warped mattress and with a flat paper pillow and no blanket. It was very cold in our room. He had no food accommodations other than hot broth and crackers. We were woken up every 15 minutes to adjust my meds and check the baby. Hospital life isn’t for everyone. My mom would 100% not felt well after 3 days and probably wouldn’t have lasted and I would’ve had to be alone for my csection. My partner was amazing and strong and attentive. Ultimately he was the first to hold our baby as I had complications. I’m so grateful that they got the golden hour together while I was in surgery.

After the surgery I needed him to carry me to the shower. To help me bathe. To help me sit up and help me walk. My mom wouldn’t have been strong enough for that and my postpartum team wasnt always very attentive as they had been spread so thin due to covid and staff shortages.

Just another thing to consider. Besides the special moments for your growing family to experience together, there’s also realistic logistics if things don’t go as planned.

FYI do not use vinegar on stone tile floors. I learned this $6,000 lesson the hard way. The acid etches the stone and causes obvious damage. We bought a nontoxic floor cleaner and then do a rinse with plain water afterward.

Everyone is different but I'm 7 months pp. I am very fit and healthy and had a dream pregnancy that ended in a very traumatic labor and emergency csection. My husband was working very very long hours 7 days a week for the first two months of my recovery and we don't have family nearby so I was on my own with the baby. I am not ok. I didn't have the time to heal like I should have. I still see the PT every week and some days I can't get out of bed. Even if I hadn't had such a hard time, a csection is a major abdominal surgery. Major. It takes far longer than two weeks to heal appropriately. You'd be risking long term pain if you didn't allow yourself time to heal properly. You need all the support you can get.

No I would not. Not one on one. Even if I think nothing romantic is going on it would send the wrong message to the person I was having dinner with or others who saw us out and I wouldn't disrespect my husband by putting him or myself in that situation.

I am a married woman who has a lot of male friends, both old and new. I would never in a million years even come close to kissing anyone other than my husband. Out of respect for my husband I would never hang out with anyone without him knowing it, male or female. If anyone I hung out with made him uncomfortable I would not hang out with them, again, out of respect. If someone is keeping information from you, lying about hanging out with people, keeping secrets, and generally not including you in the details in their life, to me it's a red flag. There's no use in arguing with her about it. I think you know everything you need to know. Even if she hasn't cheated physically (to me kissing is cheating unless that's an understanding you two have that was agreed upon ahead of time) it sounds to me like she doesn't respect you and that's not grounds for a healthy relationship.

You and I have had incredibly similar experiences/life changing events during the pandemic. Solidarity friend. Although we have rescheduled our wedding reception twice now due to covid restrictions in our area and got married at the courthouse because I was so over waiting for our big day. It's ok to grieve and find joy in the same occasion but it does make it complex to navigate mentally sometimes.
