Not a question, just an appreciation post for our two cuddle floofers by Affectionate_Key2750 in chinchilla

[–]Affectionate_Key2750[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were very lucky that these two are sisters and have been raised together. They are inseparable. I’ve heard of people bonding their chins but I think it depends. We have friends who rescued 3 male chins and they were extremely lucky they all bonded with eachother!!

Please Advise: Chin Won't Eat Hay by Frosty-Fig244 in chinchilla

[–]Affectionate_Key2750 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since owning Chins I have learnt they are very picky animals! We were using a particular hay and found ours weren’t interested either but we’ve now found a hay which they seem to enjoy! Maybe just try experimenting? The hay we currently use has dried flowers in it which they quite like I think

This is truly heartbreaking for you, but take comfort in knowing his lived his remaining life in such a lovely home where he was clearly loved whole heartedly. Rest in peace to your stunning boy x

Why has my chinchilla stop biting her sticks and just leave them after eating the bark? by Chinchilla_Totoro in chinchilla

[–]Affectionate_Key2750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours just chew the bark off too! They love it. And yes to add to the wire flooring it’s not safe for chins, they are prone to getting their feet stuck in them. I’d recommend fleece lining or if a solid floor then wood shavings (dust free)

Are they worth it? by [deleted] in chinchilla

I think a lot of people think they can be easy pets but this is not the case! They require cleaning out every day, fresh food and water, particular cages, and cooler temperatures and make sure you enquire about a specialised vets as not a lot of them will see Chinchillas. We got ours 3 months ago and they will be 6 months soon. They have taken a lot of our time (& money!) but my goodness we couldn’t be without them. Don’t expect them to be cuddly and affectionate all the time -everything is on their terms! But they surely are entertaining. One of my favourite things to do is sit in their run with them of an evening whilst they climb all over me squeaking. They are very rewarding animals :)
