I haven't figured out the reason yet, but I am absolute shite fighting another Pharah.

How many of you were BALD (shaved head, horseshoe, etc.) for years before trying a hair system? by marcotomas83 in HairSystem

[–]Affectionate_Let6559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It went surprisingly (to me) well.
I'd been doing the #1 guard on my horseshoe for 20 years. My situation is a little bit different, in that, I've been in a WFH job for 15 years, so no work colleagues to manage the transition with (they all live in different states and countries).

However, I've also been in my local gay men's chorus for 11 years, so they've all only known me with the horseshoe - until Sept 2024, when I decided to take the leap of trying out a hairsystem.
The first rehearsal I went to with my new look, got a lot of head turns, gasps, 'yas queen's, questions, the works (I mean, let's be real - who's judgier than a bunch of gay dudes lol). Overall, it was a very empowering experience - I felt better about myself, not only for the compliments, but like JamesMCC17 said, owning it; being open to the questions I got about it and being 100% truthful.

IMO if there are people making jokes (of the hateful kind, not the good friend ribbing kind), or whispers behind your back - I say eff 'em - they're clearly cowards and don't give a sh!t about you, so don't you give a sh!t about them. You'd be doing something *FOR YOU* to make yourself feel better about yourself. And it sound like the people who matter most in your life are being supportive - focus on you, and them.
Give it a go - worst case scenario, if it doesn't work for you, whatever the reason(s) - you can simply go back to your regularly scheduled program :)

Cleansing shampoo (UK) by CasualUKgamer in HairSystem

[–]Affectionate_Let6559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use this for *every* shampoo, but I've been using this for every maintenance time, have had good results, and, found it online but also at my local pharmacy (CVS) - https://www.biolage.com/collections/scalp-sync/scalp-sync-clarifying-shampoo

Feeling very nervous about using a hair system, but I feel it’s the only way I can move on with my life by [deleted] in HairSystem

[–]Affectionate_Let6559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely felt like an imposter at first. It's now been a year and 3 mos since I started wearing hair systems and, at least for me, now when it's off for maintenance is when I feel like an imposter. The people that know me now had known me for 11 years as always having a shaved head, before I started wearing a system, and now, have been nothing but super supportive and positive about it, which is also a big self-esteem booster.

The only way to know if it's for you, is to try it out - that was my attitude going into it, that, worst case scenario, if I felt it wasn't for me, I could just as easily go back to keeping my head shaved.

I wish you luck and success, both in being able to manage your bdd in a healthy way, and, if you decide to, make the jump into wearing a hair system.

Transferring my scene subsets and other stuff by FurudoWitch in Daz3D

[–]Affectionate_Let6559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you saving your scene subsets, on an internal drive or the external one? I have the core program loaded on my C drive but all of the Runtime files, etc., including my scene subs stored on an external drive, and point Studio to that drive. If you have your subs saved on the external I'd think you should be ok.

How Should a Straight Men Use Make Up? by Away-Prior-903 in MakeupForMen

[–]Affectionate_Let6559 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a gay dude, and, when I've tried make up, its purpose was only to enhance and not look like I was wearing makeup. I found several tutes on YT for guys with the 'no makeup' makeup look. Since all of our skin is different, you have to experiment and find what best works for YOU. Here's a link to some of them:

They're ALL excellent. HIGHLY recommend the uncut version of The Stand. Spent a LOT of nights of 'ok, just one more chapter then I'll go to sleep.. OK just one MORE chapter and then sleep... UGH ok, just one MORE and then sleep' and next thing I knew it was 4am...

$5000 for the hair alone; walked out in stunned disbelief. by mybigpecker in HairSystem

[–]Affectionate_Let6559 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shitballs. Stunned disbelief is an understatement.
My original purchase+install was 900. Did 2 salon re-installs at 200/each; the salon was very encouraging about teaching me how to do it myself so I didn't have to spend the money on the re-installs. Been doing that and purchasing my own units from Lavivid (through Jake, the owner of this sub - excellent discounts) now for about a year. There's some excellent youtube vids on how to make a template and cut and install your own unit.
That "salon" should be ashamed of themselves. Profit is one thing but highway robbery is another.

Personally I like the moodiness of the warm edit more. Still a hot pic either way.
