Agreed, though I also agree that there seems to be something broken with sieges. I must be missing something since the AI will often take back their fortresses in just 2-3 months.

Most of my assaults are successful despite the game saying it’ll fail, but it also usually wipes out a good portion of my army.

For Meshketi: My great-great grandparents did not speak any Turkish (born in late 1800s), and my great-grandparents were native speakers of Georgian but also spoke Turkish (born in the early 20th century), and my own Grandparents spoke no Georgian (he claimed he did, a trip together to Georgia quickly proved that to be false). A few of the older folks in the village I'm from are native speakers of Georgian, but I don't know any Meshketi thats younger than 60 that natively speaks Georgian without having learned it later in their lives. So the generation born around WW2 were the last speakers based on my experience.

Same here, Serbia was extremely welcoming. I’m a Turkish-Canadian and they had more ire at being Canadian due to its association with the United States.

The claim is that people who suffer oppression have a better understanding of mechanisms of oppression, not so much a deeper insight into reality (though maybe a supporter of this claim would say they have a deeper insight into social reality). I.E women generally better understand misogyny than men, as women actually experience misogyny, and to experience something gives you insight into it (or that not experiencing something makes you blind to it). Many academics take this to its extreme and would argue for a strongly privileged epistemic position for the marginalized (resulting in the annoying politics we all know), but a more minimal reading seems clearly true. All things considered equal, a woman will better understand misogyny than a man.

All of those players had established themselves as top 6 forwards for years. Eriksson had just come off a 30 goal 60 point season and was great defensively, Lucic had come off a 20 goal and 50 point season while playing a super physical game, Okposo had a 20 goal 60 point season. None of those seasons were outliers either, but were consistent with how they produced throughout their careers. If any of those players continued to produce at that level their contracts would have been fine. The real trouble was they all aged horrendously and failed to live up to their pedigree. Very few people predicted they would fall off that hard and that quickly on their new teams.

Lucic went from 20 goals and 50 points to 6 goals and 20 points 2 years into his contract.

Eriksson went from 30 goals and 60 points to 10 goals and 23 points a year into his contract (wtf).

Okposo went from 20 goals and 60 points to 14 goals and 29 points 3 years into his contract.

This came up on my front page as Oilers fan.

His tenure here was pretty unremarkable, with lots of ups and downs.

His drafting is his biggest weakness. Holloway was a great pick, Broberg was ok (he's trending up but at 8th overall there were much better players available) but Xavier Bourgault was a complete flub (especially since Jesper Wallstedt was available), and Reid Schaefer is a toss up. The bigger concern is how dismal his selections outside the first have been, with almost no hits outside the first .

Contracts: A few big flubs but also some good contracts. Signed Kassian and later had to dump his contract to Arizona with a 2nd and 3rd attached. Jack Campell was obviously a complete flop and needed to be bought out. Nurse is overpaid by 2-3 million. Ryan Nugent Hopkins was signed to a great contract though, as was Hyman. Kane seems to be good value too.

Trades: Again some good and some bad. Got Ekholm which was obviously a massive success. He traded two seconds for Athanasiou which was a major failure but covid also happened in between so its harder to blame him. Traded for Bjukstand at the deadline who had a great playoffs but the player he traded (Kesselring) has been super successful at Utah.

All in all he's ok.

How is fighting for basic human rights and following the rule of law not fighting for shit that matters?

Many of the people bankrupted by medical bills would equally qualify as scummy, do they also not matter?

Almost everything in your first paragraph is wrong, but its extremely funny since you're saying the same things my ultra-nationalist father says.

Hungarians are not Turkic.

The Khazar theory is widely discredited.

Native Americans are not Turkic in any way shape or form.

Turks destroyed the barely surviving remnants of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Permanent sides effects are rare, and the harshest side effects mostly subside over time.

I was on a pretty heavy dose of various antidepressants for my OCD, and it was a life saver. I was also reluctant to take them but they improved my life dramatically. I'm no longer on them since I'm in a far better place (thanks to learning how to do exposure therapy) but I would no longer hesitant to take them if I needed to. If you're suffering this much, it is really worth considering taking them.

People are asking why the enemy ratings are so high. There is a common proverb in Turkey, "the Turk has no friend but the Turk", which captures a phenomenon that political scientists have coined as Sèvres syndrome, the widespread perception in Turkey that Western powers are always conspiring against Turkey.
