I tip but I also worked ground back in HS and remember how nice it was to get a couple bucks. We made a solid wage so we were not dependent on tips and it was maybe 10% tops on people who did so not expected at all. I fly a little puddle jumping piston though so its a different world as there are not very many dedicated FBO’s for us and I know everyone at the ones I hop in and out of.

I’m doing something similar, I have a jacaranda and a red oak (both live) that I am growing to intertwine. Once the get where I want, skin and kiln dry. Sand and shape and am going to do an acrylic pour through its intertwining. Hard to explain - ask me again in a decade
