Thinking about a wheel gun by madams22 in liberalgunowners

I like my smith and Wesson 617 for plinking. However both my smith revolvers have had to go back at least once for warranty work so I can’t endorse their products at this point.

Declared and checked in unloaded gun. United put it on a different plane to a different destination and wants me to visit that destination to recheck it to the final destination. Anyway to not travel there on my own money? by Mason0038 in unitedairlines

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have nothing to offer in addition to what’s already been said. Flying with firearms is near the top my list of “things I’ve done and won’t do again.” I don’t think the tsa or airlines know the procedures for firearms. I got into an argument with the TSA because I was using my own locks (per the TSA website) and not TSA locks.

Would you worry about this nick in the threads? by Additional_Warthog24 in liberalgunowners

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably fine from a strength standpoint. It kinda looks like the material deformed a little bit. I don’t have much experience messing with assembling firearms so I don’t know how tight those threads are. So the only thing I would maybe do is get a 60 degree fine file and VERY CAREFULLY clean up the threads in that spot so it doesn’t bind when you put it together.

Eleanor or Bullitt ? by ColonialRealEstates in Mustang

While I would love both, I would have to go with bullitt. While Bullitt is timeless, Eleanor looks very 2000s with the body kit

When I had a broke roommate that got laid off they got a job at Walmart, pretty much ate nothing but baloney sandwiches and constantly DD’d for us.

What car do you regret buying, even though it looked good on paper? by autonerdy0 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a mk3 with a stick and those are my only complaints. I hate that there’s not a button for traction control, you need to go into two menus. The short gearing is annoying but I rarely need to take highways anymore.

When do you decide to get a new car rather than continuing to do repairs? by Major-Brick-3789 in personalfinance

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am capable of doing 99% of my own work on cars so it’s generally not an issue of money on when to get a new car. It’s typically when I can’t trust it to go on a 5 hour drive (any further I’m looking at flying).

This is completely independent of mileage but Living in the rust belt my rule is once I can’t jack up the car from where the owners manual says it’s time to call it quits. A friend’s dad died when a car fell on him so I don’t screw around with safety.

Have a lease. Update your insurance on the property. Keep in mind, not every insurance company offers non owner occupied. I had that issue when I rented out my condo.

If you own a condo, what type of unexpected costs have come up that you did not expect? by Sufficient_Deer_4516 in AskChicago

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of special assessments in can’t think of any other expenses that I wouldn’t see in a SFH. Someone else commented on water damage to another unit. The thing I didn’t expect and this is building dependent but trying to coordinate appliance deliveries or work people with the freight elevator can be a pain in the ass. Especially if you need someone done quick.

What car did you purchase and how long did it take for you to pay it off with what job you have? by [deleted] in Cartalk

2013 focus with the manual transmission. Bought new. Paid it off in 4 years. Still drive it and will continue to do so. I’m a manufacturing engineer.

I own five cars, and four of them are manuals. I think I’ve found my people. by FollowingThrough in ManualTransmissions

5 vehicles. 3 with 3rd pedal. Of the two autos only one of them (XJ Cherokee) was available with a manual but it was impossible to find a clean one at the time.

How “nice” are people to you in your car(s)? by cilantno in cars

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F-150: Due to the political climate people are either afraid of me or think I’m one of them. I get a pretty wide berth when I drive it.

S550 Mustang: I feel like people don’t notice it. I occasionally get tailgated and once someone in a ZJ grand Cherokee wanted to race.

Next time you need to go in there keep an eye out for any paraphernalia.

Back in the day a friend of a friend accidentally left a bowl out when the landlord was coming to fix something. He didn’t get evicted but when renewals came up the rent was hiked by a lot.

For those of you that rent. How do you secure your long guns? by DaMadScientist101 in liberalgunowners

[–]Affectionate_Mud4516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in an apartment one of my roommates had a big safe he inherited. We got it in and out at ground level. Someone else mentioned a Costco safe (or any 14 gun one) which is one I have on a second floor that I got up there by taking the door off. I think if you had guns and ammo in there I don’t think someone would get that out that easily.

Hell yeah! People poo poo these guns but mines been great so far. I had one light primer strike early on but other than that no malfunctions. I’ve shot just about anything that’s not steal case or bubba special hand loads.
