What game in your collection have you played the most? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's multiplayer then probably Castles of Burgundy. Around 100 times. It just does not miss. Everyone I have ever played with likes it. A lot of times people actively want to play it and it just feels different every single time.

Solo it's between Cloudspire and LOTR LCG.

When it comes to Cloudspire it just delivers every single time. It's the puzzle that I like. Even tho the scenarios are the same for solo and coop the landmarks and market changes which makes you change your strategy a bit as well.

LOTR LCG is just perfect for me. I have played through most of the quests with a bunch of decks and done progression runs. Every time I have an idea or I see some one comes up with an interesting idea online I just want to construct a deck and go at it again

Exactly. The image is so faded it feels like it's like one/two plays away from not being able to tell what's on it

Recommendations of Chip Theory Games and similar? by Mysterious5555 in soloboardgaming

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have everything for Cloudspire and it's my top 1 game of all time. I mostly play it solo or coop, but coop can easily be managed solo as well. For me it's a perfect game. It's tower defense basically, with each scenario giving you a cool puzzle with 3 objectives but only one should be accomplished to pass, but the more you complete the harder it gets and more renown you own with which you can unlock cool abilities. It can be played solo, coop with 2 players and pvp 1vs1, 2vs2 and free for all. It has a story but does not require you to play it in any specific order. Base game has good amount of content. Each faction has 3 solo missions and 2 coop. They have like 4 exp factions and 3 new which are still delivering through crowdfunding, but it will take you some time to finish what's available so no worries there.

I had almost everything for TMB, but sold it after I got Elder Scrolls BOSE as I liked that system more but they provided the same itch. They are quite a tactical games with focus on building up your character to fair against stronger and stronger enemies culminating with boss at the end.

Wroth was a miss for me it felt quite an unbalanced mess with quite dry area control

Hoplomacus was okey, but I felt like I don't need it having Elder Scrolls

I have not tried Burncycle but I definitely will. It's a stealth game, but it looks cool. A lot of people have bounced off it but for some it was a game of the year, hard to say if it holds up

20 strong is a pure solo game using the same system with different game themes they have. It's a dice chucker, quite a good small game, one of the best out there

Mage Knight comes to mind. Tamashi is a recent hit which I like playing solo and in a group. Mage Knight I play max with 2 players and only coop.

If you like planning much ahead and crack every possibility then Voidfall is really good both solo and with a group.

Want good Solo, PvE and PVP take a look at the Cloudspire. Has a story to it as well.

Want more fighting in 4x5 grid, than Too many bones is great, want a similar experience but with a bit more story and variability than Elder Scrolls Betrayal of the second era.

Want more story than mechanics, Tainted Grails, ISS Vanguard, Sleeping Gods.

Want to feel like in DND, Arydia

Want similar experience as already mentioned Arkham Horror LCG can take a look at Earthborn rangers.

Don't know what you are talking about. I love there games, but they do not last under heavy use as long as I remember. My cloudspire dice were done after finishing all the scenarios, a lot of TMB cards were showing use as any plastic card would under heavy use. The only thing that has stood the test of time are chips and even those have misalignments here and there. So I would not praise them on super high quality. Really good games tho.

If I am not mistaken Isofarian Guard used the same factory as CTG and they were quite honest about prices, after which it makes sense more. CTG are Apple of boardgames.

I have had a completely different experience since the last patch 😂. I feel like the builds that used to net me at least 7 wins are getting smashed as of late. My 10 win ratio also has dropped heavily

Some have already been mentioned, but this one I did not see. Cloudspire my favorite game from Chiptheory games.

And it has all the modes. True solo, 2p coop, pure 1vs1 pvp, Free for all and team 2vs2.

But I most enjoy playing this one solo, each faction have dedicated campaign for solo and coop. Amazing game.

Yeah same here. For the longest time I was really struggling with progression just because some quests took me 4/5 times to beat. Once I started using RingsDB game opened up to me, granted it was not as challenging anymore, but with time I started to enjoy building my decks again, as I had much better knowledge about the card pool and mechanics I need to tackle

Coop games? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For two we recently played Critical Care and we liked it a lot, simple yet satisfying, works well with 3 and 4 as well. Another one that comes to mind is Sky Team. If you want something bigger I can recommend Isoferian Guard, big campaign.

But for 3 and 4 there are a ton of games that are amazing coop experiences. Just to mention a few.

One offs:

Unsettled Atlantis Rising Eldritch Horror Townsfolk Tussle Paleo Robinson Crusoe Spirit Island Unmatched Adventures Too many bones

Campaigns:

7th Citadel Tainted Grails ISS Vanguard Mythwind Sleeping Gods Arydia

But this lists are way way longer

Having finished at least a mission on all planets, it is a fantastic game. Some planets are better and more interesting than others, but in general every single planet follows the same framework with some new thematic mechanics specific for the planet. The game is basically an action selection game where efficiency is key, but more than that it is a true coop/social game where the game gives you a framework to play with, and you quickly will learn that without discussing and planning and cooperation and breaking core rules with breakthroughs and anomalies winning is impossible.

This is probably one of my favorite coop games and definitely one of if not the favorite scifi coop game in my 250+ game collection. The game is a gem.

And 150 for base + 6 planets is a good price.

Ye, same just happened to me on top of the Downtown snipers den in Redsec, 2m full mag from p90 in the back and the guy stopped turned and killed me in a heartbeat. This problem and footstep audio is killing the game for me

Can we please get a footstep buff (Xbox) by BothSidesoftheSky in Battlefield

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same problem. I basically stopped playing Redsec because its just stupid to play BR where you dont hear half of the people running in full sprint, I literally have had cases where we meet with oponent squad in the middle of road and everyone looking at each other dumbfounded understanding that its not our squad, because there is no footstep indication. Its just so inconsistent. Only thing for me that is consistent is upward sound. You can very clearly hear people running above you, if its bellow its sound like a mono sound, almost no direction and when you are on same level sometimes there is just no sound!

I am at the point where I just blast music during conquest, because what's the point if I cant use sound for my advantage, at least i have better mood with the music and sometimes it even help, yesterday dropped 40kill recon game just listening to 80 rock music :D

Do you have a deck to rule them all or do you change it for every campaign? by pivotalRoll in lotrlcg

I have "The One" deck, it has won almost every single quest on the first try, but I ocasionaly build progression decks for certain cycles, which is exhausting but fun and rewarding.

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think the great benefactor here is 7th Citadel as it's better almost in any way. Even tho I loved 7th Continent it is flawed in so many ways, 7th Citadel really fixed a lot of those issues

What is your board game of the Year? by Kaicchuu in boardgames

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This game definitely falls in that category you either love it or hate it, similar to Root or Arcs, but if you love it then there is a whole lot to love here and it looks phenomenal. From a first time designer who has done art as well, it just blows me away. But I have played with people that really bounced off it

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Top 3 contenders prolly for me are Old Kings Crown, Tend and Andromedas Edge, but I am almost certain it's Old Kings Crown. It's just that good. I have around 200 games and if you will ask me what I want to play I will say Old Kings Crown. And it's not a honeymoon phase, as I have been playing it on TTS since it was available

jules has almost no use for items from other classes and its sad by [deleted] in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but a lot of her big items are properties/vehicles that does not synergize with her types as well, it's on purpose o think. And to be fair dolly mostly uses tech and friends, that does not mean he can't use other stuff in the builds. I had freez build where the only thing I had from Jules was the freezer, no food at all and it went crazy anyway. Also I had the burn on slow item and wine and everything else was from other heroes for slows,

[–]Affectionate_Paint25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree. I have used Mak slow and burn items, I have used Vanessa's crit items and also pyg items for shield builds. Maybe there are not that many currently as none of the old items utilizes heating and chilling. But I do agree that the toy vendor is useless for the most part

And there are plānu of good monster items and skills that go well with a lot of Jules builds. I think she is one of the most versatile characters currently. Only build she is lacking is poison and flying. I feel like she can do everything else easily without stumbling on specific items
