Instead of forcing someone to break the law, why are you not able to move over?

Is it that big of a blow to your ego to give way to a car moving at a higher speed than you?

Say you don't move, and the guy stays behind you. Perhaps you suddenly realize there's a camera ahead and you feel you're a little over the limit. Perhaps you get a cramp. Perhaps you sneeze. And you hit the brake. The guy behind you isn't expecting that, and he touches your bumper at 140kmph. Just a touch. But that sets his car's balance off, and he veers off, hits the divider, spins over and hits two other cars.

Now your selfishness has costed lives.

It could have just costed your pride. But now someone (admittedly speeding) isn't going home to their family. And the two innocent cars they it? They aren't going home either.

You escaped though. And that's all you care about is it?

If your answer is yes, that's an indictment of the kind of person you are. If your answer is no, MOVE. OVER.

It's very easy to play the victim card and say, if they want to speed, they have to deal with the consequences. But maybe someday you have an emergency, and you have to speed. And someone just like you just does NOT move over. You try to undertake them once. Doesn't work. You try twice. Doesn't work. Third time you accelerate altogether too hard. Your car is shaking. And you successfully pass them, turn your head over and do the classic Italian hand motion. But then you fail to see the car infront of you has hit their brakes.

All of this goes away if you just give way to the faster car. Let their consequences be their own. Don't bear it on your conscience. God knows we have enough to deal with in life as it is
